So Close Yet So Far

He’s sitting in front of me, within an arm’s reach.

She can’t help but smile at this thought.

It saddens her though, that even though he’s so close, yet, you’re still a million miles away from me.

She knows she doesn’t have the guts to reach him.

This causes her heart to ache.

She simply cannot help stealing glances.

Even though she knows she doesn’t stand a chance.

There’s just something about him that gives her heart a reason to dance.

She can’t help but ask herself if this is what they call love.

It doesn’t matter if she just stares at him the whole day.

Just as long as she sees him.

Though, she can’t help but think, he’s so close, but still out of her league.

She need to climb a hundred mountains before she reaches the peak.

She has fear in her heart.

The fear of rejection is what she does feel.

I’m such a coward, she realizes.

But, it’s better than to nurse a poor aching broken heart.

She basks in the warmth of the twinkle in his deep brown eyes.

Still, she realizes, that’s only what she can do.

She wishes she could kiss the wrinkles off his forehead.

She wishes she could put warmth in his eyes and a smile on his face.

Still, he’s so close from her, yet a thousand galaxies away from her.

His eyes suddenly look up to her.

Her eyes are filled with surprise and a feeling that’s foreign to her.

Butterflies in her stomach flutter like raging waves clashing against the shore.

The depths of his eyes drown her in sweet surrender.

They look into her soul sweetly and carefully.

Her lips denied her of speech.

She’s suddenly paralyzed in paradise.

His eyes were baring her soul apart.

Though, they have a soothing calm in them that she can’t possibly explain.

She sighs and thinks, no matter how close you are, she still needs to swim a thousand rivers before she reach the beautiful shore, which is him.

She feels so insecure with him looking at her.

He asks, “Why are you feeling insecure?”

She’s taken by a knocking surprise and once again, she cannot speak.

He tells her that she’s beautiful.

She blushes as red as the roses she dreams of him giving to her.

This couldn’t be true, could it be?

He just smiles and ruffles his hair.

She suddenly can’t breathe.

He just continues flawlessly.

She wonders if he realizes that he almost knocked her off her feet.

Then again, she knows that he’s so close yet a million light years away from her.

He’s a star in the sky, while she’s a mere stargazer who can’t help but admire.

This is love, she says to herself, completely sure.

Though, she knows, he’s so close to her but so, so far.

She cannot reach her because she’s afraid.

Afraid of just being paralyzed in a state of being ‘so close yet so far’ away from him.
