September 7th came too quickly for the students of East Brook High. Ash woke up to the sound of a car pulling out of his neighbours driveway. He rolled off the bed, just as his alarm clock went off. He sat up and slammed his tanned hand over it, shutting the irritating noise up. He stood up and stretched, a large yawn escaped his mouth as he walked into the bathroom to get ready for school.

Shane and Ella arrived at school half an hour early, for a meeting with the principal. She slowly ambled her way around the school, following her brother and the signs, unsure of where she was going. As she passed a window, she gave herself the once over. She had her black rimmed glasses placed on her nose, hiding her eyes. Her sandy blonde hair was up in a neat bun with a few loose strands framing her face, apart from those strands everything about her appearance was spotless. She wore a loose black jumper and a pair of blue skinny jeans, this was school after all - not a fashion show. Her black Vans shuffling along the corridor were the only sound that could be heard, other than her brothers footsteps.

Shane was Ella’s older brother. He was a few minutes older and was a total opposite of his little sister - personality wise especially. Being the same age as Ella, sixteen, he shouldn't have worried about her at all. Yet he felt a certain authority to look after his sister, but a non-existent amount of effort kept him from doing so. He didn’t care much either, although his sister was undeniably attractive, she kept well away from any means of trouble, especially boys. He had the same sandy blonde hair that his sister had, except he’d inherited his fathers green eyes, unlike Ella, who had got their mothers deep chocolate brown eye colour. He was wearing black skinny jeans, a white t-shirt and red plaid shirt over his t-shirt, unbuttoned, along with a red pair of Vans. His sister and him only shared a few common interests, one of them being the same shoe choice.

Once they had finally found the principals office, they knocked and went it, ready for the new school briefing that all students received at whatever school they had just joined.

The meeting was short, which gave Shane and Ella time to go and find their lockers. Ella picked up her bag and walked down the corridor, stopping at locker 302, she turned and said goodbye to Shane as he continued to walk down the endless corridor to his locker, number 473. Ella dropped her bag and observed the piece of paper in her hand with the locker combination scribbled on it. Once she had finally gained entrance into the only part of the school she could call her own, she began to organize a few notebooks, pens and other items inside. She was so caught up in her little organized bubble, that she didn’t hear a girl come up to the locker next to her and say hello.

‘Hey, can you hear me?’ The girl asked curious, wondering if this new student was deaf or something.

‘Huh? Oh God, sorry, I was so wrapped up in this-’ she gestured to her locker ‘that I didn’t hear you, sorry!’ Ella responded instantly, once her attention had finally come back to reality.

Standing in front of her was a girl around her height, she had piercing green eyes and long, curly, dyed bright red hair, put up in a high ponytail with a side fringe coming over her forehead. She was thin, you could tell, but she dressed almost identically to Ella. She was wearing a loose fitting t-shirt with ‘whatever’ written on it in a red font that matched her hair colour perfectly and black skinny jeans. She had on white converses and if she wasn’t clutching an Algebra book she could’ve been mistaken for a model, not a student.

‘Oh no worries!’ The girl laughed before extending a hand, ‘I’m Lauren, Rhodes, Lauren Rhodes, but just call me Lo because the name Lauren kind of annoys me’ She smiled and shook Ella’s hand as she took it.

‘Hi Lo, I’m Ella Dawson, I’m new, obviously’ Ella replied smiling as Lauren let out a little laugh, she glanced into Ella’s locker and admired her timetable.
