Chapter Twelve: Pressing Issues

Start from the beginning

"Not before I talk to your Emrianee, where is he?"

"Why? So you can make petty threats?" Biana asked, squaring her shoulders.

"No, just to tell him why he shouldn't compete again in an adult's race."

"So... petty threats," Dex deducted.

"They're not petty-"

Biana tsked and shook her head, "That's just pitiful, Maruca. You're even setting a bad example for your daughter."

"I'm not a little kid," the girl scowled, "I'm thirteen!"

"Mhm, that doesn't mean you're still not impressionable," Biana reminded her, "wisdom comes through age and experience."

The girl scoffed, offended, "I'm wise!"

"No, you're not, Vealia, now let the grownups talk," Maruca snapped at her daughter, who pouted, but did as her mother told her. Biana crossed her arms, ready to listen to whatever Maruca was about to spin for them. Maruca turned her attention back to Biana and Dex, "My daughter may not be wise, but I am... wise enough to do this!" Maruca knocked the bottom of Biana's drink upwards so it spilled all over her peach dress.

She gasped in horror, as this was one of her favorite dresses, and handed Dex the glass, fuming. Maruca hummed, satisfied, and was about to turn away when Biana thrusted her hand out, using telekinesis to life Maruca and her daughter off the ground, and her other hand to open the entrance of the venue. Quickly, as Maruca swore and her daughter screamed out insults, Biana pushed the hand she was using to hold them up forwards, and sent them flying out of the room, dropping them on top of tall, thick square bushes, right for all the press lingering outside to see before she closed the doors quickly.

All eyes were on Biana, and she shrugged and said, "Bad vibes," before light leaping back to Iridecesy. Once there, she quickly washed the stickiness off her skirt and changed into a white, knee length pencil dress with a low rounded v-neck. It had no sleeves had light ruching starting from the top of one hip swirling down to the hem of the skirt, creating elegant creases in the otherwise tight fabric; almost like an oyster shell. She then light leaped back to the party, right back to where she had been standing before to find Dex waiting for her.

He smiled when he saw her, and whispered, "Hey."

"Hey," she smiled, and tried not to pay attention to everyone looking at her again.

"They're just looking at your dress. It looks great."

"Thanks, I was going to save it, but I wanted to wear white for innocence."

Dex chuckled quietly, and everyone slowly went back to what they were doing, "That was awesome by the way. I don't think I've seen telekinesis that fast."

Biana shrugged, "Multiple orders before a big event require a certain level of speedy multi tasking... and I didn't want her threatening the kids."

"Gnome knows that Gaia would have been there with him," Dex nodded and wrapped his arm around her shoulder as a photographer walked up to them, undoubtedly about to ask for a picture.

"When are they ever apart?" She laughed, and wrapped her arm behind his, resting it on his shoulder. Popping her other hand on her hip for style, his callused fingers came up to rest on her shoulder lightly, and they smiled.

The photo was used in the next issue of Mindrella Weekly, and Biana couldn't help but cut it out and stick it in her photo album.

That Monday, wearing a short purple dress with a long, sheer overlay skirt, Biana stood at a podium with a large smile, the press taking photos and eagerly waiting for her statement. Gaia was currently at Dracovern, but Dex was in the front row, smiling at her. She had asked him to be there for moral support, and he even showed up early to get a good seat. They had already talked about... the inflicting incident, and smoothed it over, agreeing that it didn't change their friendship.
