Blinded

"What happened?" Genji asked frantically clutching the hand of the unconscious girl laying in the hospital bed.

"Poison gas. She won't be able to see for a while and her hearing should come back in a few days. (Y/N) will have to stay in here till her hearing returns, then I want you to take care of her till her sight comes back. Is that alright?" Mercy said from the other side of the bed.

"Of course, I'd do anything for her." Genji responds without missing a beat.

"Good, you should tell her that. When she can hear you of course. Now I need to go check on another patient. I'll be back to check on (Y/N) later." And with that Mercy fled the room, leaving Genji with (Y/N).

Genji had a major crush on you, but kept it a secret cause he didn't want to lose you as a friend. But seeing you like this was killing him.

He left your side only when he needed to go to the bathroom, and even then he was only gone for a minute or two. Mercy saw that he refused to leave and brought him food when she came to give you a checkup.

~YOUR POV~

I let out a groan of pain, your ears were ringing horribly and it gave you a massive headache. I tried to open my eyes but found that I couldn't, something was covering them and keeping them closed. I start to panic, my mind creating the worst scenarios it could come up with. My hands start to claw at the cloth covering my eyes before I felt a metallic hand grab my right wrist, pulling it away from my face.

Then a soothing voice sliced through the ringing in my head like a knife. "Shh.. it's ok... calm down... (Y/N) you're safe..." The voice said, and I immediately recognized that gorgeous voice as Genji's, the man I had a crush on.

"G-genji? I-is that y-you?" I choked out, my throat feeling like I hadn't had water in weeks.

"Yes, it's me, (Y/N). I'm so glad that you're finally awake." He said in that sweet voice of his. Then I felt him put something cold to my lips. "Drink. It's water." He said as he slowly tipped the glass, allowing me to sip the cold liquid.

When I had all the water I wanted I held up my hand, motioning that I was done and Genji quickly took the glass away. "Thank you for the water, Genji. What happened? Why are my eyes covered?" I asked him and felt him shift on the edge of the bed.

"While you were on a mission, there was an explosion and poison gas got in your eyes and ears, causing you to temporarily lose both. Though your sight probably won't be back for a while still, your hearing seems like it's back. I'm so glad you're finally awake. You've been unconscious for almost 2 weeks, 13 days to be exact. I thought I lost you..." He explained whispering the last part, sounding like he was on the verge of tears by the time he finished speaking.

Reaching out, I just barely manage to find his face, and take it into my hands. I could feel warm tears in his cheeks and I quickly brush off the shock of touching flesh instead of metal. "It's OK now, Genji. I'm awake." I tell him sweetly, wiping away some of his tears. And I feel him nod.

Suddenly there was a knock at the door and the sound of it opening then closing. "Genji, I came for (Y/N)'s checkup and I brought you some fo- (Y/N)!! You're awake!!!" It was Mercy. Something clattered against the floor and I felt her rush towards me and start checking my vitals.

"I'm alright, Mercy." I tell her with a giggle.

"Are you sure? You've been out for a while." She responded, continuing to check my breathing and heartbeat. "I guess you are..." She said after a few minutes. "Everything seems normal. So I don't really have a reason to keep you in here, other than your eyes, but Genji offered to take care of you when you woke up." She explained.
