Ivy sighed and trudged forward. In her mind she was trying to remember her new co-workers name. Delly- no, Dani- no, for god's sake what was her name? Ivy brushed a piece of strawberry blonde hair out her face and moved past a very anger looking man who would have ran right into her. Her cold blue eyes roamed across those who walked on the streets in her big city. With a disgruntled sigh, Ivy pushed her way into James Writer's. She made her way up to her floor, the 6th, and walked past Angel who waved at her.
"Aren't you excited Ivy? You'll have someone in your office now!" Angel's far too bright smile, and high voice both blinded her and made her feel deaf. "I mean, Mark doesn't usually let new people in so late in the year! OH, I'M SO EXCITED." Angel's dark blue hair fell onto her face covering her smile, making her far more pleasant for Ivy.
"You're not the one getting a partner Ang. And you know how this goes. They stay for a week or two, then either move to a different floor or get moved to a new building. What if she does stay she becomes my new best friend?" Angel laughed at the last sentence a, now smaller, smile on her face. Angel shook her head and stared at Ivy's wrist.
"Her names Delia, by the way. She's in your office now getting set up. She looked horrible nervous. We both know you'll never replace me as a friend, we grew up together." It seemed only then did Ivy feel the tight ball of nerves in her stomach, and the horrible head ache that was coming on. She looked sharply down to her wrist and sighed.
"Stop. Don't play match maker please. I don't think I could take it today or ever, Angel." Ivy's voice trailed off and she looked at Angel with a scowl. Angel squirmed under her intense gaze until Ivy walked to her office.
Ivy stared at the handle on her door and remembered when this used to excite her. She would come in and explain everything like it was the best thing every. Now she hated it. The people who came in here were rude, snarky, mean, and plain just didn't do their work. Some people were nice, and they stayed on this floor. Others were put on the lower floors which always made her feel happy, because she was their higher up. She opened her door and looked to left of her desk and saw a woman standing there just starring at the door. Sighing, Ivy walked over to her desk, feeling her eyes on her back the whole time.
"Hello, I'm Ivy and we'll be sharing this office for a while. As you've probably heard, here at James Writer's, we don't do big mistakes. If you mess up, you may leave this floor, building or job. The woman in the front with dark blue hair is Angel Belmore. She runs this floor of this building. Stay on her good side. The other seven people on this floor are Ann and Amy Grasse, they're sisters, Pat Tapia, Lilac Jones, July Hics, May and June Lee, they're married. Stay on their good sides and you may make it up here. The rules of this office are simple. Keep your stuff on your side unless it's a shared project, don't touch my stuff, and, for the love of god, don't bring your partner in here because there are camera's. There. Simple right?" The woman starred at her then nodded slowly.
"I'm Delia and yeah that seems simple enough." Ivy looked her up and down then. She had darker tanned skin, bright green eyes and short curly hair. She was quite tall, maybe 5' 9, 5'10. Ivy was a simple 5'5. She felt quite small suddenly. Sighing, Ivy sat down at her chair, and set to work.
Half way through the day Delia began to hum, and tap her feet. Ivy spun in her chair to glare at Delia. Delia glanced up and her cheeks burned. She quickly stopped what she was doing and mumbled an apologized. Ivy rolled her eyes and went back to work. A few minutes later Angel came bouncing in with a smile on her face. She giggled when she saw the disgruntled look on Ivy's face.
"Oh, please. You're not that upset." Angel said with a far too bright grin. Delia glanced back and forth and watched the exchange. "Anyways, Aaron is coming today. Said something about how he wanted to check up on everyone. I bet he just wants to see you." Ivy groaned and leaned back in her chair with her hands over her eyes.
"I have told him and told him to leave me alone." Ivy suddenly turned towards Delia. "Never marry someone that you work with. Especially if they're a higher up. And don't have kids with them." Angel's smile dropped and she looked down at her hands.
"He wants to see Lucille and Hudson. Also, he asked if you would let him have them for the weekend."
"No! If he wants to see the kids, he can ask himself. I mean, he's the one that left." She snarled the last part and growled. Angel shook her head and looked down sadly. She mumbled something and walked out. Angel walked over and patted Ivy on the back. She smiled and walked out the door.
