CHAPTER 4

"I'm sorry, Glai. I... I can't marry you."

"Wha-Rhian!"

"So you're saying you're not going back to America after the wedding?"

"Yeah," Rhian stared at the glass in her hand before downing the shot in one go. "There's no

reason for me to be there, not anymore. I need to start anew and aside from L.A., this is the only

place I consider home."

"Well they've always said that home is where the heart is."

The two girls sat by the bar as they waited for Lovi and the wedding photographer. She had just

arrived a few hours ago complete with jetlag, but as soon as Solenn had seen her step foot on the

hotel lobby, the bride-to-be had dragged her immediately towards the bar, all the while calling

her a lousy maid of honor for resisting the bride-to-be's requests for a few drinks.

And now that they've settled and have had a few shots, the slight buzz of the alcohol had

managed to calm her nerves and loosen up her tired body.

"Casey's really grown now, hasn't she?" (Imagine niyo nalang si Casey na super duper cute na batang babae. =))

"She has. And thank you for letting me tuck her in before dragging me here."

"You're welcome. Oh, have you seen your new roommate?"

"No, she wasn't there when we settled in-"

"Hey, ladies."

The two girls turned their heads towards the new comer and instantly smiled.

"Welcome back, Rhian." Lovi hugged her briefly before skipping her way towards Solenn to give the latter a hug.

"Missed me?" The tanned girl softly cooed as she felt Solenn's arms hugging her waist.

"Wow, you lovesick puppies." Rhian faked gagged at the sight of the coupled and earned

herself some glares. She smiled at her friends' sweetness and felt a sting in her eyes.

She had something like that, once. But then she was too foolish to let it go.

Rhian turned her body towards the bar as she rested her elbow on the bar countertop, her chin

propped up by her hand. She lazily eyed the different liquor bottles that were displayed before

her while she mindlessly swirled the cocktail that was in her glass.

She had went back to Japan, with her daughter in tow, to escape the person, the reason why she

had committed the biggest mistake she had ever done in her life. Rhian silently mourned over

her stupidity, though it was rather late.

Four years late, to be exact.

"Lov, where's Gla-"

"Hi."

Rhian snapped back as she heard the familiar voice. Four years apart from each other did

nothing to her memory as she would never forget that voice. Her body froze and her throat went

dry at the sight of the one person she's been longing to see ever since she had stepped foot in
