The day they placed the jewels on your head, you panicked and looked over at me.
You couldn't fathom all of your new found responsibilities.
I calmed you down with one breath, a relaxing test.
Flash forward six months and you've wrecked it all.
You were the king of my everything but now you've even lost me.

The kingdom has fallen from grace
And we're dancing on your grave
"Make him pay! Make him pay", they sing.
And to think, just yesterday we called you our king.
Your throne has collapsed, you've lost your grip on power.
The kingdom has fallen into the abyss
I smirk, knowing you can't stand this.
The king is supposed to lead his people
Not make them weaker.
And that's just what you did, last winter to me, my king, my king, is now incredibly weak.

You hopped into your carriage, desperate to escape the inevitable carnage.
"Go, Go, Go!", you shout to your driver, as he slows down in anger.
I could see all of this unfolding, knowing you wouldn't last the night,
I just watched and waited for them to bite.
But you got away.
Destined to be cowardly.

Fast forward six years,
and I'm in the upper east side drinking a root beer.
A person sits next to me, with an all too familiar familiarity.
It's you. My king. My heart. The one who made life so hard.
"I have to talk to you", you sigh.
I didn't have the time, no more lies.
I phoned the police and they took you away, one last glance and that's the last time you saw me.

The kingdom has fallen from grace
And it's up to me to save it
"Make us better! Make us better", they sing.
And to think, just yesterday I was nothing.
Your throne has been replaced, a new found sense of safety.
The kingdom has fallen into the abyss
I smirk, knowing I can retrieve it.
The king is supposed to lead his people
And that's what I plan to do.
And that's just what I did, last winter, you see my king, my king, is now solely me.
