Enid, you should just just shut up. Shut up before anyone gets hurt. The loudmouth of myself, Enid Tesa, is going bring me to death. In case you don't know this, a life of a sixteen year old is constantly on the verge of hell, or most likely already there. All you want to do is die in a hole, I'm not exaggerating, the constant pressure of working a job for the first time, and maintaining your social life is exausting.
In my junior year of high school I experienced more than I really wanted, but I guess its sorta normal for a girl to live in the city and be exposed to things from sexual comments, to depression.
The September of my sixteenth birthday, I knew I could not get myself into trouble. I didn't even feel safe around my classmates anymore. The fact that several of them were accused of rape and drugs, made me uncomfortable to even to be lab partners with them. I'm not much of a sociall butterfly of anything, but I always tend to attract attention from the guys in my class. Maybe it's because I seem approachable and friendly. Lots of boys are in general, nice to me, unlike to lots of other girls. They are either flirting, or don't find me as a complete bitch. Though many of them are nice, they seem desperate. Desperate for (you know what). Sense I'm an easygoing person, they may think that they can take advantage of me. Luckily I, have so far, never been in a situation like that.
When I was fifteen and a half, I got my drivers lisence. I expected that my mom would have trouble ajusting to me driving. My mom was so hesitant to get me a car for my birthday because she thought I would abuse it, like sneaking out at night, or out of school. To be honest, I would never think of such a thing. I can't wait for college, but getting distracted by romance, pregnancy, or bad choices, would completely hold me back.
My mom never got me a car. She decided that I would ride my bike to a local diner and earn my pay as a waitress.
“You will work at ‘Pete's Place, Eggs and Things’, until you earn at least half the amount of the car payment. Plus you need at least a 3.5 grade point average throughout the whole semester. I'm not having a slacker for a daughter. You need to earn your place in society, and working hard is the way to do it.” She says to me on my sixteenth birthday.
What? How could I have enough time for my school work and a part-time job? I have worked hard my whole life, but this would be more than ever. For the past two years I also joined basketball. It was a large factor in my high school life. If I don't even have a car, how am I going to have enough time to get from work, to varsity practice at 4:00. Am I just supposed to cut work halfway through the shift, and work an extra hour that night? Working till 12:00 is not an option for me. Even though working a part-time job, maintaining above a 3.5 gpa, and keeping up with varsity b-ball, sounds stressful, I will not back down. The key to persuading my mother into buying me a car, is to show her my responsibility.
I agreed to the task, but now I need to get interviewed. I booked the appointment for September 31. The next step of this process is to get prepared for the job.
