“All right, Carter that was excellent, but next time I want you to look more in love with her.  Right now you look pained.  Love shouldn’t be painful.”  Our director, Callum Barker told me.  I was currently starring in a movie, Masquerade.  I don’t really know what it’s about, mostly because I forgot, and partly because I don’t care.  Acting is just a source of income, but it really helps that I’m a phenomenal actor.  I’m also hot, so that helps too.  “Lisa? You need to work on memorizing your lines.  I realize that you’ve done a lot of movies and T.V shows, but pretend like this is your first movie.  Alright?” Callum told my co-star, Lisa Phillips.  She was a great actress, but she procrastinated on memorizing her lines.  I mean, this was our last run through before our first day of shooting, and she still needed her script.  Talk about unprofessional.

“I’m a professional, I know what to do, so stop nagging me, gosh!” She said, flipping her brown hair over her shoulder and stomping off the set.  I rolled my eyes and Callum ran a hand over his face, sighing in frustration.  I really couldn’t blame him, that woman was infuriating.  She made everything ten times harder than they needed to be.

“Okay, take five…or thirty.  In fact, let’s just call it a day.” He sighed, standing up from his chair.

“Anna, where’s my coffee?” I asked my assistant in frustration.  My coffee was not waiting for me.  “And where’s the sandwich I told you to get me?” I practically shouted.

“M-my n-name is A-Amy.” She stuttered,

“Fine Amy.  Where’s the coffee and sandwich I told you to get me?”

“Th-they r-ran out, s-sir. I’m s-sorry.” She stuttered, looking scared.

“Then you should have run to the store.” I growled.  She burst into tears and ran off of the set and I sighed.  I can’t believe I scared off another one.  Meh, whatever.  Elizabeth can just find me another one.

“Carter Williams!” I heard Elizabeth, my manager shriek.  “Do you realize that Amy just quit? In tears?” she yelled at me, fast-walking to me and standing in front of me, arms crossed, foot tapping and she had the scariest expression on her face.  She was furious at me.

“Y-yes ma’am.” I muttered.  She was really scary when she was angry/

“Why?”

“Well, she didn’t get me my coffee and my sandwich.  She said they ran out, but she could have gone to the store to get me what I wanted.”

“You are so lucky you’re like the son I’ve never had.” She sighed, pulling her brown hair into a ponytail, something she did when she was either frustrated or angry. She pulled her hair into a ponytail a lot. “Okay, I am hiring you one more assistant.  Do not screw this up, Carter.” She warned me.

“Whoa, whoa, whoa. One more? That’s it?” I said, flabbergasted.

“Yes, Carter.  You’ve already scared off eight.  I’d be lucky to find one more person to put up with you.”  She told me, giving me the evil eye. I looked into her brown eyes and sighed. She wasn’t budging.

“Fine.” I muttered.  There was no doubt that I was going to be assistant-less by next week.

”Thank you, Miss Evans.  We’ll get back to you as soon as possible.” Elizabeth said with a fake smile. That was the fourth person we’ve interviewed, and each person was worse than the previous.

“Was that the last person?” I asked.

“Nope, there are two people left. Just pray that they shower, have some sort of organizational skills, and/or can remember worth a darn.” She sighed and I cringed, but nodded.  She got up with another sigh and plastered her fake smile on, going into the other room to get the last girl.  “Okay, Lexie Abraham? We’re ready for you.” I heard her say. Liz walked in the room, followed by a gorgeous brunette with green eyes.  I so hope she isn’t a complete idiot, it would be such a waste.

“Hi Lexie.”  Liz smiled warmly at her.

“Hello.” She smiled back.

“My name is Elizabeth, but you may call me Liz, and this is-”

“Carter Williams.” She said, cutting Liz off.  “Oh, I know all about you, Mr. Williams.” She told me and my mouth dropped open at her boldness.  I looked at Liz who was smirking at me.

“What exactly do you know about me?” I asked, raising an eyebrow at her.

“Well, I know that you’ve scared off your last eight assistants and many of them quit in tears.”

“You told her?” I asked Liz, who shook her head.

“I do my research before considering taking a job.”

“Can you tell us why you would be interested in taking this job?” Liz asked her, folding her hands on top of her desk.

“Well, I love a challenge, and this job seems perfect for me.  I have good organizational skills, I have a wonderful memory, and I don’t quit.” She said confidently.

“You’re hired.  When can you start?” Liz said quickly.

“Whenever you need me.”

“Today?” She asked hopefully and Lexie nodded.

“Since you’re my assistant now, go get me coffee. Two sugars, no cream.” I told her, reclining back in my chair.

“I’m your assistant, not your doormat that you can walk all over.  If you want coffee, go get it yourself.” She said and I glared at her.

“This is going to be SO much fun.” Liz said, grinning at Lexie.
