"Thanks, Jaehyun."

"It's just a tie, don't worry about it."

"No, I mean... well, coming with me tonight. Thanks."

"I'll always be there for you. Always have, always will."

Jaehyun ruffled his hair and smiled.

"Come on, let's go save the driver from Johnny."

///

Jaehyun mentally cringed as they walked into the immaculate dining establishment.

Everything was in place, chandelier gleamed with real crystal, every tablecloth was pressed, and the waiters were in tuxedos.

Taeyong, looking every inch the rich kid that belonged in a place like this, which was so unlike him, walked up to the head waiter and said, "Lee Hyunsik, party of four. Has my father arrived yet?"

The waiter had been looking at Jaehyun as though he had stumbled into the wrong place until Taeyong had said the party name.

A sickeningly sweet smile appeared and he began to simper as though he was in the presence of greatness.

"Oh, young master Lee, it has been awhile, sir. No, you're father has yet to arrive. Let me have you seated right away, though, sir. Seungyoon!" He snapped his fingers in the air imperiously and a waiter came running.

Jaehyun followed behind Taeyong and the waiter.

They were seated at an overly large table for four.

Bored, Jaehyun pulling his seat closer to Taeyong, he ignored the look Taeyong gave him and watched the people around them.

"You can't sit this close."

"Why not?"

"Because, you just can't," Taeyong whispered fiercely at him. "People will talk."

"Let them talk."

"But-"

Taeyong stopped as he saw his father coming in with a beautiful woman.

She couldn't have been more than twenty-three. It was sickening. She was no more than a trophy, soon to be a trophy wife and they both knew it.

"Damn, your dad knows how to pick them, huh?"

Jaehyun followed Taeyong's lead and rose to meet them.

"Taeyong, I would like you to meet my fiancée, Choi Jiyoon. Jiyoon, honey, this is my son, Taeyong."

"Oh, how do you do? I'm sure you've heard all about me. Your father always telling everyone about how we met. It's embarrassing really, but I don't mind. Anything for my Hyunsik," She said with one of the falsest giggles Taeyong had ever heard.

Since when had anyone ever been able to call his father like that? His mother certainly never did.

"It's a pleasure, really."

"You wouldn't believe my surprise when your father told me I was going to meet his son tonight! I never would have guessed he'd had a son."

The pure glee in her eyes cut Taeyong to the quick, but nowhere near as deep as the fact that she hadn't even known he had existed until tonight.

Why should he be surprised? His father always tried to forget he was there after all.

Jaehyun looked across the table at her, wanting to yank her hair out.

He hadn't missed the look she'd shot at Taeyong when she'd said the barb.

He shrugged and said, "Probably no more surprised than Taeyong was to find out his father was engaged. He just found out today as well. Mr. Lee, you sure do know how to keep a secret, don't you?"
