The harsh light of a flickering lamp fills the room with a blinding glow. Pure white walls bind the windowless room together.
There 'it' waits, keeping its body perfectly still. Not that it could move in the first place, not with the metal straps that bind its limbs to the operation table. Men and woman dressed in white coats hover around it, muttering amongst each other observing what lies before them. Nothing could describe it...
"Begin stage one of the experiment" A woman announces.
A gloved hand grasps at its chin pulling it to side, a sharp thin needle pierces its way through the flesh, injecting a foreign chemical into its bloodstream, causing the test subject to twitch. It ends as quickly as it began.
"Begin stage-two of the operation" The woman commands, a needle filled with a different chemical is injected into the other side of its neck, no effect.
"It seems to reject the chemicals ma'am, stage three could result in permanent damage as we have no clue in how its current body will react, if at all, with Project-Metamorphosis...It's just too unpred-" Their speech is cut short.
"It cannot die, Project-Metamorphosis will succeed. And in future, I'll advise you to hold your tongue when talking to your superiors if you want to continue your career with us, now, begin stage three" The woman's eyes narrow as she talks down to the scientist.
Obediently, two needles from either side puncture its skin, injecting a black tar-like liquid, they stand back as the chemical slowly contaminates the test subject's bloodstream, as if expecting a sudden outburst...But nothing happens. A moment passes, and then another.
"Begin sta-" The shrill sound of tearing metal cuts her off and the test subjects breathing abruptly increases. The metal straps were torn from the table. Its once transparent body is consumed by a flesh-like texture. "It's changing form... it worked" She mutters, watching the creature throw itself forward then crouch onto the table like a predator, stalking its prey...The harsh light of a flickering lamp fills the room with a blinding glow.
