Y/N's Point Of View

The end of school bell rang and I thanked god, never feeling more grateful for a day to have finished. I blew a stray strand of hair which hovered about my eyes, tickling my eyelashes. Gathering my books, I suddenly remembered how my best friend, Min YoonGi, had told me to meet him in the schools auditorium after classes had finished. My eyes lit up and a smile unknowingly found it's way onto my face.

We've never dated before, but the thought of it had crossed my mind more than one too many times. Sometimes, Yoongs acts as though the two of us are practically joined at the hip and other times he'll go days on end in his music studio; you'd think he'd disappeared off the face of the earth. Admittedly, he's never had any serious relationships before, always saying that he was too, quotably, "married to music" to have enough time to be in a relationship.

Before I knew it, I had already been to my locker and had been standing outside the doors to the auditorium for the past 5 minutes.

"Aish! Where is that guy?" I complained to nobody in particular, taking my time to let my hair lose and loosen my red bow tie slightly.

Another few minutes passed by, yet I still stood with my arms crossed and my foot impatiently tapping.

Suddenly, hurried footsteps thudded down the corridor. A frantic YoonGi rushing toward me, One hand clutching to his backpack slung over his shoulder and the other wiping a sheet of sweat from his forehead.

"Hi... Hi, Y/N!" He breathed heavily, gasping for air. "Sorry I'm so late. I got let out of class later than expected. Some idiot at the back of the class thought that it would be funny to blow a spit ball at the teacher and the whole class got a scolding. Geez. Sometimes I wonder how its possible to be surrounded by so many idiots."

My tested patience instantly melted seeing him out of breath and shaken up by being late to see me.

"It's alright, Yoongs. Next time, smack whoever causes mischeif on the back of the head before they get you into trouble."

"This is why you're my best friend." He laughed before grabbing my hand and led me into the auditorium.

My smile quickly changed into a small frown, "Way to crush my expectations and friendzone me, YoonGi."

His head snapped over his shoulder and he looked at me with startled eyes, "Huh? Did you say something, Y/N?"

"Forget to take your meds, YoonGi? You're hearing things." I outwardly laughed, cringing inwardly at the close call.

He shook his head unknowingly and continued leading us through the building, passed the dressing rooms and stage props. Feeling too awkward to say anything to him in case he had actually heard what I said and was simply choosing not to make me feel embarrassed about it.

Any small talk at this moment feels wrong. The only option left is silence. Somehow, it's weirdly comfortable in its loudness. We make our way through another door and straight into the wings of the schools theatre. The familiar warmth of YoonGi's hand holding mine made me swoon.

Letting go of my hand, YoonGi flicks a switch and a row or spotlights come on as I walk to the centre of the stage, listening to the echo of my feet. My shadow splits in more than eight different directions, spreading out across the audience seats.

YoonGi sits in chair in the front row and speaks for the first time since he ran to meet me earlier.

"Speech! Speech! Speech!" He cupped his hands around his mouth and chanted.

"I want to thank everyone who has helped me to get here," I wiped an imaginary tear from my cheek. "Especially my mum, for teaching me how to make a sandwich. Thanks mum, love you." I reached my hand out to YoonGi and blew a kiss to him.
