The prince stood staring out the window with blood dripping down his hand as he watched his kingdom burn to the ground.
"We have to do it," his wife said behind him. "For our daughter, we have to save her." The prince nodded, then sighed.
"Did it have to be a cat?" he asked. "It couldn't have been any other animal?"
"No a cat is the quickest and the easiest," the princess answered. "And if we turn her into anything else there's no guarantee we'll ever get her back. She'll be a cat. We'll change her name to Chippy. And she won't remember us at all."
