But Catherine was no straightforward warrior like Alexa. She'd prefer using her brains and empathy in everything.
She had tricks up her sleeves.
She may be cheerful, with a short attention span. But he'd seen her strike-fast, precise, and sharp.
With only words.
He croaked, "No."
She blinked, then a small smirk made its way to her face. There was the Catherine he saw when she tricked the barmen. The trickster.
"Smartass," she said.
