Bouncer Brachio is excited!For the first time,his mummy and daddy are letting him help build their village's New Year's bonfire."This is the way we start every new year on Firefly Island,Bouncer",says mummy as they put on jackets,mittens and scarves.They head up the path through the woods towards Firefly Meadow.Before long,they see friends and neighbours,pushing piles of branches and logs on carts.
"Tonights the night !" calls Bouncer's daddy happily to them.He runs the camping ground on Firefly Island,where they live.The huge mountain of wood is getting bigger and bigger.Bouncer jumps and yells,"Whoopee!I cant wait!The sun has set!We can start!" Bouncer's daddy lights a big torch and sets fire to the pile.The village gather around the huge blaze,watching it crackle and shoot sparks into the dark sky.
"Hooray!Happy New Year!" they cry,clapping and laughing and hugging each other.Shadows dance.The smoke smells wonderful."I wish New Year's bonfire came every day!"shouts Bouncer to his friends.Together,Nolo Giraffe,Slye Snake,Baabra Sheep and Bouncer make a circle.They spin faster and faster,shouting and laughing until they all fall down.What a wonderful start to the new year!
