(So I just decided to make the whole story one chapter since it's short. Enjoy!)
There weren't a lot of us, four or five maybe. Depends really on who comes back from the run today. It was 1986. We lost count of the days about a couple of months or so after everything happened.
It was just a normal Tuesday. Farah's little brother was watching cartoons with his Reese's Puffs as we got ready. "RUH-RO Raggy Z-z-z ZOMBIES!!!" Scooby Doo's lovable voice came through the speakers of the tv making me smile as I packed my books and binders into my bag. I love cartoons, they're one of the little things that make me smile.
Johnny honked his horn from outside, his small green volkswagen sputtering to a stop. He hates it but I think it's super cute! All of our adventures driving around the woods at night were in that car.
We'd gotten to the Gaten High School and met up with Heath as usual under the bleachers till it was time to go in. Heath and Farah have their morning cigarette as johnny works on his camera that he loves so much but sadly constantly needs repaired. I had come up with the idea for each of us to chip in and buy him a new one for Christmas but that will never happen. '
Johnny was just a little taller than I but he slouched so he matched my height. He always had a deep bags under his eyes due to night terrors, they came with a pair of apple green eyes. They were my favorite feature of his. He had a smaller mouth that always stuck in a straight line, I made it my duty to make him smile at least once a day. He had a haircut that kinda resembled a bowl cut but he teased it because it did not like the way his mother had so carelessly hacked at it.
I would just sit and enjoy the company of my friends. I've been told I'm not the very talkative type and I know that. But really I'm not antisocial as some say I just like to sit back and observe. I'm actually the newest addition to our little group. We met when I was sitting under the bleachers reading a book not realizing that's where they hung out, Johnny trailing behind them. Keeping away from the smoke coming from their cigarettes.
He doesn't mind Heath and Farah smoking he just prefers not to. Like me, his parents smoke and aren't really there for him, needless to say our similarities made us instantly best friends. Mine smoke and get drunk and are mean too so I kinda just live at Farah's
Farah was kind of a Bad-A (or that's what she called herself) she listened to bands that most parents and adults frowned upon, such as Metallica and AC/DC. Hanging out with her so much I've developed a taste for them as well but I preferred Iron Maiden. She had beautiful, long brown hair that she usually kept in an Indian braid. She had baby blue eyes that she lined with dark eyeliner and mascara. She was foul mouthed but we liked that about her, she always came up with a funny phrase when she was angry like "Son of a Monkey's Left Nut!"
It was actually a pretty normal day until lunch. Mr Asselin gave his boring speeches about wars. And we skipped Mrs Yamada's class as usual, none of us liked her, so we snuck out and hung under the bleachers till it was time for lunch. We had brought old desk chairs and a card table down there so we didn't have to sit in the mud.
The faint sound of the bell inside told us it was time for lunch. We all walked down to the lunchroom, but no one was in the usually crowded halls. When we reached the blue double doors the lunch room was empty as well. The circle tables that were always full of the different cliques were bare and the lights were off.
"What the heck man!" Heath said storming over to the counter. "I want my food!" he yelled banging his fists on the surface. He has anger issues. He is the tallest one in our group, he'd always be the one to stand up for any of us if there was a Soce talking complete bull. He had naturally light brown curly hair that barely brushed his shoulders. His eyes were a dark brown and his smile literally reached from ear to ear, making lots of creases in his faintly freckled face.
