Aiden's View
I wasn't worried about the dull that I would gladly march into, No I would fight for Dena's safety and hopefully the end of all her bullying.
As I drove down the street to the park where I planned to meet Dena, Blake held Mr. Bingly in the passenger set and with loving hands, cuddled the kitten. It was going to be hard to separate the two when the time came.
Ring! Ring, Ri... "Hello" I answer the phone.
"Get this, Dena has been in eight homes. One of them she was kicked out of due to violent swinging of spatula. That's what it says, there's no explanation for why she did it." Logan shuffled through some papers then rested on one and continued "there was a fire in this one house, Dena was in the hospital for four days due to mild Burns. They believe the fire was caused by a myth lab explosion."
"Is there any reports of her being abused?" I ask worriedly about Dena.
"No... If she was ever abused she either didn't say and kept it hidden or the workers didn't care."
"Is that Logan? Put him on speaker would ya?" Blake chimed in once he finally took his eyes off of the kitten.
"You're on speaker, Blake's here." I tap the screen as we pull over to the parks small parking lot.
"Hey, Blake! Granny wants your chocolate moose pie recipe."
"Really?! Cool, I'll send you a copy to give her before you leave. By the way, when are you coming here?" Blake asked
"I should be leaving Friday so I'll see ya'll Saturday morning. Try to become good friends with Dena before I get there, that way I can meet her and it won't be weird and all that."
"Don't worry bro she liked you, who knows why before, I'm sure she will like you again" I try to reassure him that his worries were for not.
"Yeah, Aiden's right. For some reason, you were her favorite?" Blake says, questioning Dena's reasons
"Man I was her favorite because you two would play some of the meanest pranks on her."
"Hey, she deserved it! After all, she was the one who usually threw the first punch" Blake defended himself.
"Yeah that's true, she always had to have the first say in everything," Logan said.
Glancing up from the phone, I saw Dena's holding hands with an African American boy who looked to be eight. He also looked pretty nervous but for what I couldn't say.
Slightly behind them slowly walked a girl in a fluffy red skirt. A little too much makeup lined her young face.
"Dena just got here. We'll call you after." I was about to hang up but stopped when I heard all the emotion in Logan's voice when he said "Aiden, please send me a pic of her... I miss her so much" although I could not see him I knew that he must have started crying. Beep, he hung up.
Don't worry brother you'll see our sister soon!
*******
"Hey, Dina! Over here!" Blake called out to the three. The little one hides behind Dena not sure if he should approach.
"Come on." she led them to where we stood by an old wooden picnic table.
"The cat. Do you have it?" The boy asks trying to make himself sound bigger then he is.
I let out a chuckle, this kid was cute. And the way that he said it like a gangster with a serious face just made it all that much better.
