"I have a suggestion for a potential career that I think you'd be great in.", my dad says to me on our way home.

"I'm listening...", I try to keep my face neutral but it's harder said than done.

"Well, as you know at my new job my boss sends me to do maintenance at the local airport. I want to do my PPL and I saw a great flight school there."
My dad tries to be 'subtle' but it doesn't work. "What are you trying to say dad?"

"What I'm trying to say is, why don't you consider commercial pilot as a career?"  I see the hope in his eyes, he knows me in and out,  so he knows that the topic peaked my interest.

I turn my head away from my hopeful dad so he doesn't see the inner debate I'm having. My future and specifically my career is a tough subject of conversation. See my mum and my dad have been divorced for over ten years and to say they are different kinds of people is an understatement.

"I think it could be a possibility dad but I want to have more information before really considering it."

My dad starts to talk about the school and how he wants to take up flying as a hobby.

I zone out of the conversation not wanting to discuss it at the moment.

We made it to my second home town and went to my dad's work. We parked at the entrance of the beautiful building when I realised I was still in my school uniform.

"Dad , I'm just going to grab some clothes. I can change here right? "

My dad is already out the car but answers me with quick nod before closing the door.

I grab my dark blue skinny jeans, a light top with no sleeves and a busy pattern. For shoes I grab my white Adidas and dash towards my dad waiting at the door.

I step inside the building and can't help but stare at the magnificent architecture. The surrounding walls are made of thick glass with a dark , smooth  wooden desk at the reception. The receptionist is very friendly and my dad introduces her as Melany.

I greet her and walk past the desk to the bathrooms and change into my clothes.

When I'm done I check my hair before rushing out the door. I don't look where I'm going and ram my face into something solid. I take a step back as I raise my hand to rub my nose. I look up when I hear a soft chuckle. My eyes go wide when I see the person I ran into.

"Are you okay?" He asks. I can feel my cheeks flaming with heat as I avert my eyes.

"I'm fine. I'm sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going." I apologise to the stranger.

I lift my eyes to look up to the tall guy again. He's in his early twenties with light blond hair, swept to the side and emerald green eyes. He has a goofy grin on his face and his straight ,white teeth are starting to show as his grin widens.

"I'm Ryan, Ryan Donson." He extends his hand for me to shake. I place my hand in his. "I'm Alice, Alice Skyline." I introduce myself. His big hand is soft and smooth , not what I was expecting.

I retract my hand from his and remember that my bundle of clothes are still in my other hand. He looks down and notices my school uniform. A smirk crosses his face and my cheeks begin to tint a light pink.

"I just came from school." I explain,"my dad needs my help with something , so I'm just going to go." I turn away from him and begin to walk when he says "I'll see you soon Alice Skyline." with a dazzling smile.

As I walk away from Ryan I can't help but think to myself 'if this is the kind of people my dad works with , they're going to see me around a lot'.
