This chapter is agonizingly short, I know.  And I apologize. I'm dragging ass today and I feel like a total zombie. I think I'll just stick to watching TV shows for the rest of the day and I probably won't update this until tomorrow. Sorry y'all  :(

The skies of Xandar were filled with all kinds of ships- Necrocrafts, Ravagers, and Nova Corps. They all buzzed around the air like a nest of angry wasps. Trying to navigate through the mess was almost like trying to find something in muddy water. Lucky for me, I'm an excellent pilot.

I led the way up to the Dark Aster and we made a new doorway in the wing. "Quill, you're up!" I communicated to him. "On it!"

My group fell away back towards the city where Necrocraft were crashing into buildings and streets. "Don't let them touch the ground!" I told my squad of Ravagers and we all positioned ourselves close to the surface facing the sky. We shot down one ship after another and that's when Saul reached out to me over the radio.

"This is Saul. We're going to make a barrier around the Dark Aster in an attempt to prevent it from touching down on the surface."

"Okay, Saul. Great idea!" My Ravager team continued to shoot Necrocraft from the sky as Nova Corps ships locked together to form a barrier around the Dark Aster. The much larger ship caused the barrier to bend but the Nova Corps ships held strong.

As I continuously blasted away at enemy ships, my thoughts trailed off to (Y/N) and the rest of the crew. There's no telling what they were encountering on board and I hoped that this would be over soon. I was getting tired of dealing with this crap.

The Dark Aster's engines went into overdrive and started pushing its way through the barrier, pushing it to its limits.

"Hold on Saul, just-"

"AAAHH!!" The mic went dead as Nova Corps ships exploded in a chain reaction.

"Noo" I whispered as I peered up through the glass at the sky. "THAT'S IT!" I pounded my fist into the armrest. "Okay, Ravagers. You all stay down here and keep shooting down Necrocrafts. I'm going in."

With that, I blasted off into the sky battle and headed straight towards the front of the Dark Aster. I was gonna run that bastard over whether he was dead or not. I broke through the front of the ship and hit the guy head on. The ship crash landed and something hit my head and my world went black.

Good news is I was only out for a few minutes. The bad news is that I woke up to see Groot sheltering us for our inevitable crash landing on Xandar. My heart wrenched in an unbearable pain as I climbed up Groot to look him in the face. "Groot, no. You can't. You'll die." My voice cracked as I spoke softly to him. Then I felt a small burst of anger. "Why are you doing this? Why?!" I didn't want to lose my friend. I treated him badly at times and I didn't always appreciate him but I still cared for him.

Tears slid down my face and Groot wiped it away with a small vine. "We...are...Groot." Groot looked down at me with a loving smile. "Groot, I-"

I was cut off as we hit the surface, jarring all of us around until all I saw was a bright light and then nothing.
