PROLOGUE
Miley Circes is a loner.
Or, maybe, more specifically, I am Miley.
I had long red hair that was always kept in a long neat plait. With the face of an angel (or so I've been told) yet the manners of a devil.
I had never been good at making friends, but had never really cared whether I was alone or not. But even so, moving to a new home and going to a new school had never been enjoyable for anyone.
Old friends and new friends. Well, friends were just friends weren’t they? People who come into your life and leave.
Because of this thinking, I wasn't really accepted anywhere. I watched my classmates fight, share good and bad time together, get boyfriends, secretly wishing to be a part of it.
I really didn't want to go. No one would want a new school. Especially not someone who couldn't seem to fit in anywhere she went. Like a rose among thorns, my grandma would say, because of my dark red hair. When she was alive anyway.
However, my parents had certainly not felt that way. They thought it might be good for me.
Here we go.
CHAPTER ONE
The school garden was a marvel all by itself, with flowers the colour of rainbows springing out everywhere from the soft ground. Graceful vines snaked up the walls of the school, entwining through holes and cracks.
The school, which I knew was an old mansion with a history of thirty thousand years, was tall and looming, with a grand total of four buildings, each with winding staircases and a large baloney.
Young students stood in casual clothes around the school, chatting happily with their friends. The atmosphere was friendly and cosy. Laughter could be heard from every corner of the school.
To top it all off, a gigantic maze stood in the middle end of the garden, making me wonder how big the school actually was. I walked up to the maze, which at the very least was three metres tall. A cute sign popped out next to the maze, ‘The hidden maze' inscribed on it in gold curly letters.
A hidden maze? What's so hidden about this maze anyway? The maze stood tall and proud to anyone who would look.
I decided I would most likely want to try and explore the maze one day. I wonder how much time it would take for me to find the middle.
Remembering the time, I rushed off to the dorms. Luckily, the place was found rather easily thanks to the bronze sign. A cute red haired girl with large almond eyes popped out of nowhere, making me gasp.
"Hi there! I'm Amber! You're Miley, aren't you? Yeah, well welcome to the dorms. The boys are on that block and we girls stay here" she commented, gesturing to a pink painted block.
The girl's words practically flowed out from her mouth like a broken tap. I tried desperately to listen as the girl, Amber, went on and on about cafeteria food or another.
Amber commented," But actually, I'm telling you all this coz' you're going to be my roommate from now on." She grinned and laughed.
I looked at the eager little girl and smiled, maybe living here would not be that bad after all maybe? I silently smiled at the thought, feeling a whole lot better than I had when I first came here at the thought.
Maybe for once, making friends would be easier and I wouldn’t so lonely? Well, I definitely was going to treasure this chance. And maybe try to be easier going at the same time.
