Okay. So I'm going to just say this right now. Dyslexia is SO much more than what people think.
I'm often asked questions like, "If you're dyslexic, why do you read so much?" or "How can you write a book if you can't read?"
And if your one of those people, don't worry I don't hate you! There just isn't a lot said about it because the thing most people talk about nowadays is autistic, down syndrome and other very severe mental illnesses.
Which isn't a bad thing, but when I tell people I'm dyslexic, they basically laugh it off like it isn't something I struggle with.
A very complicated definition of dyslexia:
"Dyslexia is a specific learning disability that is neurobiological in origin. It is characterized by difficulties with accurate and/or fluent word recognition and by poor spelling and decoding abilities. These difficulties typically result from a deficit in the phonological component of language that is often unexpected in relation to other cognitive abilities and the provision of effective classroom instruction. Secondary consequences may include problems in reading comprehension and reduced reading experience that can impede growth of vocabulary and background knowledge." -https://dyslexiaida.org/definition-of-dyslexia/
My definition is much easier to understand (for people like me):
"Depending on severity, peoples suffering from dyslexia can have problems with understanding what people say. They can also possibly see letters and numbers backward. They often switch words around when they speak ('I read pretty well' to 'I pretty read well'). What they think can come out twisted and all the meaning is lost on others who do not know them personally."
