Wind rustled through the nursery, disturbing the nursing beige she-cat from her slumber. Growling with annoyance, she stretched and lowered her cold gaze to the litter by her belly. A snow bengal she-kit and a grey tuxedo she-kit. Glaring down at the two, she flicked her ear and began thinking. As she thought, Russet Thorn was rustled from her sleep as well. Lifting her ears, she pretended to sleep as Ara, the beige she cat, began to speak.
"I can get rid of you..." She whispered to herself, glaring down at the unaware kittens beside her. Perking her ears, she lost her cold demeanor as a Bengal tom entered the nursery. "Oh, hello Ether!" Ara meowed at her mate. Ether inspected the kits.
"How are they?" He inquired. Ara flattened her ears, snapping back with,
"They're fine." Ether raised his ears and straightened up with surprise. Sighing with disappointment, he lowered his tail and decided to exit the nursery. Maybe his mate was just tired.
Russet Thorn narrowed her eyes and got up, her bushy tail swishing.
"Ara, it is rude to yell at-"
"Shut it!" Ara snapped, her eyes narrowing and her fur raising. Russet Thorn reeled back. Regaining her strength, she stood.
"I'm getting Ether." Before she could exit the nursery, Ara shot up and dived in front of her path.
"NO!" She yowled defiantly.
"You can't stop me!" Russet Thorn hissed. At this remark, Ara raised her claws, and in one swift move, raked her claws against Russet Thorn's face. Russet Thorn screamed out in pain, collapsing. She panted and stared up at Ara.
"You raked your face on the thorn bushes. Got it?" She growled. Russet Thorn nodded and got up, scrambling outside and running to the Healer's den.
