She was beautiful.
And I didn't mean, like supermodel beautiful or anything.
No, she had a face like an angel.
There was something different about her looks... More innocent than sexy.
And it suited her well.
I sat next to her, curious as to why she was begging on the street.
Her protruding stomach started to move, and I was startled when a hairy snout poked out of her coat.
The snout sniffed the air before sniffing my hand.
Out came a small dog that immediately started licking my face.
"Hey, hey, I love you too!" I said, surprised that the dog had taken such a liking to me.
"Ha! I love your dog!" I said playfully, it was so excited!
" She loves you too!" The girl replied, smiling slightly.
"So... What's your name?" I asked. She obviously had a story, and I figured the first step to finding that out was to know her name.
"Sara." She said.
"Sara." I repeated. I liked the way it rolled off the tongue. The name suited her perfectly.
I thought about how it would feel to sleep on the streets and have to beg for money.
And I couldn't let this beautiful girl wander the streets at this time of night. With the gang on the warpath along with several other criminals, who knew what could happen?
"I know this may seem a little forward but... Do you need a place to stay?" I asked, hoping my intentions were conveyed as purely genuine.
I really wanted to help her.
She seemed surprised, but she thought it over before breaking into a smile.
"What do you think Skip?" She asked the dog, who I had almost forgot about.
The dog barked an enthusiastic yes.
"Great!" I grinned.
I stood up and carried her small bag, looking over my shoulder every now and then.
I was really surprised that she trusted me.
I felt a vibration in my pocket as I saw a text from Izzy:
Hiya, Wuu2? X
I had just started a conversation with Sara and I didn't want it interrupted.
I replied:
Can't talk now. See you at school.
I smiled at Sara as we continued to walk to my house, looking over my shoulder every now and then.
You can never be too cautious.
