Gilbert,

I miss you with all my heart. This week I'll be away Augsburg, maybe it would be fitting to see you once I'm there, what do you say? I'll be there from the 5th to the 17th, I'm sure you'll find the time the time. If you don't then that's fine.

I've been looking for jobs nearby, I might find something closer to you.

I guess that's all I have to say on the matter.

Until we meet again,

Roderich

__Six months earlier__

Gilbert Beilschmidt: a young german man living in his hometown of Berlin, Germany with his younger brother: Ludwig and their italian friend: Feliciano. Roderich Edelstein is an young austrian man who is traveling to Berlin for business purposes. Gilbert and Roderich knew each other since they were kids but went their separate ways after high school. Roderich is a pianist and violinist in many symphonies and orchestras while Gilbert is an electric guitarist in a small band. While walking through the streets of Berlin one night Gilbert bumped into someone making him drop his stuff.

"Hey watch where you're going arschloch*" Gilbert said as he bent down to pick up his stuff.

"Well it's your fault. You should have been looking where you were going." The man said as he adjusted his glasses.

The man was dressed in a long coat and a fedora, the hat semi-covering his face. Gilbert had to think about it for a bit. The man had an accented voice sounding german but much more different.

"Where have I heard this voice before? Maybe if I can get him to speak again or take off his hat... I can get a better look at him..." Gilbert thought to himself as he examined the man.

They both were still gathering their stuff off the floor. The man and Gilbert had reached for the last piece of paper on the floor at the same time. Purple and red eyes met as they had made eye contact. Gilbert breathed softly as he stared into the man's eyes, he felt as he had seen these eyes before. He picked the paper off the ground, it was sheet music for the piano.

"Hmm Chopin: Nocturne op.9 No.2 I guess this is your piece, R-Roderich... " Gilbert said the name slowly as he had seen the name on the paper.

He checked the sheet music again, in the corner of the paper was the name Roderich Edelstein. It had hit him in the face like a brick, this was Roderich Edelstein his childhood friend. The memories of their time together flooded Gilbert's mind. His eyes softened as he smiled at Roderich it's been forever since they last saw each other.

"Roderich it's me Gilbert.. Gilbert Beilschmidt!" He said happily handing the sheet music to Roderich.

"Gilbert? Gilbert it is you!" Roderich raised an eyebrow at first but gasped as he now remembered the albino german.

Roderich took off his fedora and pushed his hair that fell out of his face. He had always had a strange lock of hair that defied the laws of gravity and practically stood on its own. Gilbert put down his stuff and opened up his arms; Roderich put his stuff down as well and hugged Gilbert back. They pulled away from each other, Gilbert pat Roderich's back as he laughed loudly like he always did.

"Kesesese you still wear those fake glasses even though you can see perfectly fine?" Gilbert said as he took off Roderich's glasses.

"They give me a sense of refinement and besides I look bland without them." Roderich said taking his glasses off of Gilbert's face and putting them back on. "So how about we catch up sometime" He asked slinging his violin case over his shoulder.

"How about now?" Gilbert said as he put his guitar on his shoulder.

"I can't.. I have to play at a dinner in 20 minutes-" Roderich checked his watch and immediately began to panic. As he began to walk off to hail a cab Gilbert grabbed him by the arm and pulled him into a kiss.

"Please Roderich come with me.. come with me instead of that stupid dinner." Gilbert said when he pulled away from Roderich.

"...Fine" Roderich said as he looked away blushing, he noticed a patch of flowers and not just any flowers.

Prussian blue cornflowers; Gilbert's favorite flower. They walked a few more blocks and wound up at a tavern. The night went on, peaceful for the most of it until Gilbert got drunk. Roderich took Gilbert to Ludwig's house and decided to stay the night. The months to come would change both of their lives completely. The small specks of snow began to fall; this was going to a peaceful winter this year.
