The soft chirping was visible in the background .The sun was shinning in through the window, shinning on my face. I groaned and turned the other side. The morning breeze, shaking my curtains ,making shadows dance across her room. A deafening noise rang near her ears. I was actually hoping that there was still one more day of vacation, one more day of sitting in her room reading or walking with Prince.

I slammed my hand on the dismiss button that it rattled the whole bedside table.  Aunt Helen started singing her morning song ,her voice echoing in the empty house . I threw the covers off trying to shake the sleep. Then I remembered last night. I turned my head to the window. The clawed marks was gone as if they didn't exist at all. Did I imagine it?  I kept on staring at the window.
I stood up.Luckily it's not cold here so a blue jean ,black sneakers and a red shirt would do. When I was done , I peered at my hair in the mirror.  Except for my tired brown eyes my hair was sticking in every direction. Running a comb through my hair watching my scar on my arm, You can't see it well for she always wore long sleeves to hide it.

It happened when I was five. I remembered walking in a dark and cold forest , no light shinning in the woods. Mist was hanging thick in the air. I remembered no sounds from any birds or animals. I only heard growling when I saw a wolf cub. He was a lot larger than a normal wolf cub usual looked like. He was struggling almost as if he fighting himself. Before I could turn away  to run he snarled at me and jumped. I screamed and went tumbling  down . The wolfs green emerald eyes was shinning, blazing ready to kill.

I remembered bracing myself for death. For him to rip my throat out.  Suddenly he stopped growling. It was strange that this  wolf had green emerald  eyes and not golden. It only stared at me, watching , studying me. Then I heard my mothers voice calling out to me. Panicked the wolf jumped , digging his claws in my skin. It felt like as if her skin was on fire. I screamed as it felt like power surged through her. The wolf  looked at her and there was no anger anymore  but sorrow. He watched her arm. There was three claw marks on her skin. Blood  slowly flowed of her arm and dripped on the snow. Soon after he bolted into the night sky. That scar caused a lot of trouble for me.  After that I had a fever through the roof and was passed out for three days.

When I told my parents what happened they  told her it wasn't possible. That there wasn't any wolves in these parts well ....not anymore. I always wear sleeved shirts so the scar wouldn't show. I didn't want people to freak out . I lightly touched my scar. It suddenly pulsed with heat. I stared at it. It has never done that before... " Selena! Come on! You'll be late for school ." She called out."Coming Aunt !" I screamed back. I grabbed my bag and rushed down stairs, nearly tripping over Prince. I grabbed an apple from the kitchen table and then hugging my Aunt goodbye. I could get a few bites before running towards the front door.

The cold morning air slammed against me. I welcomed it. It sometimes reminded me  of home. I closed the gate and slowly walked to school. Stopping at the local bus stop, I waited for the light to turn green. I suddenly didn't feel alone. I looked to the woods and saw a man standing a few feet away. My heart started beating rapidly against my chest. It was the same man from yesterday.

He can't hurt me. There is too many people around here. One scream and he is in cuffs. The cars were zipping past here, almost a blur. I prayed for that light to turn green. When it finally turned green I immediately  started speed walking . I can't just run away, its not illegal to stand near a local bus stop. I never have seen him more than once a year since I moved here. Only back home did I see him recently like two or three times a day.

The wind was picking up, pulling at my jacket. I pulled my jacket closer to my  body. My breathe was making a white puffy cloud. It is nearly winter here. I can tell by half of the frost around me. Walking a little faster to get to the warm school building.

When I entered through the gates a few cars were zipping past her with such speed it blew my hair back over my shoulder. Only Mike Dosson would be such a speed demon.  I only shook my head. What did you except from a jock?

I quickly hurried into the school building  where the cold wind was blocked by walls.  I had a couple of minutes before the the bell would ring for school. I went to the one place I felt safe and had a heater inbuilt.

I walked till I stood right infront of giant doors. I slowly turned the ice cold knob and as I swung the door open a loud creaking noise could be heard. I was immediately welcomed by warm air and the smell of books. I shuffled in and was tackled from behind.

I immediately knew who it was. "Lena! "I said turning to hug her properly. We didn't see each other much the last week of vacation for she was on holiday at the sea.

Her long midnight hair was braided and her warm brown eyes were practically sparkling.  I knows someone else she missed. Troy. Troy is Jordan's best friend. Troy was one of those jocks that were actually nice and polite.

He is pretty cute with his brown hair and brown eyes. Not as cute as Jordan but he is pretty attractive. Lena thinks so too. For she always blushes near him and always smiles when she sees him walking in a room.

They would be the cutest couple ever. Troy obviously likes Lena for he always smile at her. His whole face light's up when he sees her. "Good thing I had a hunch you would be here. "She said smiling, lightly bumping my shoulder.

"What can I say? The sense of heat brought me here. "I said shrugging,  teasing her a little. Lena giggled, squeezing my shoulder. The bell will go off in 10 minutes then a another year would start with massive piles of homework and projects,  After school activity's that keeps you busy for hours. Well it's not all bad.  Some of my classmates I did miss.

My friend leads me to one of the desks and they both sat down. I saw the sparkle behind my friends eyes. Uh OH! I know that look.It means she has an idea. An idea I wouldn't like. " I heard that the cross-country tryouts are in two days. Why don't you try out?" Lena said leaning over the table. Hope sparkled in her eyes.

Lena wanted her to try out for the cross-country team ever since she saw me running through the hallway trying not to be late for PE. I shook my head. " You know why I can't." I whispered peering at the librarian. It isn't,because I can't run. I used to run at my old school. I was good the gold medals and trophy's that hung on her walls and desk  proved it.

It's just my parents always would support me. Attending every practice or event. Mom who would  always tell right before I would start that she is proud of me no matter what...  win or lose. Then  dad would chime in and say that I wasn't going to lose but win. Even when I was running my dad would always cheer as loud as he can. After every victory he would always spoil me. On weekends he would sometimes take off and train with me. Especially before a big event so he could help calm my nerves a bit.

It wouldn't mean anything without them there. How could I do my best knowing when I looked at the stands and see them empty? Lena's  eyes was pleading. " Come on! Were seniors now! This is suppose to be the year we do stuff out of our comfort zone. Would you please just try out. If not for your self but for me?" She said leaning her head on my arm. I sighed. I love her  but when she has her head wrapped around something she isn't letting go.

"I'll think about it." I said already seeing her  Cheshire grin. Then suddenly a loud ringing startled her. The school bell. Now it's finally time to start a new year.  What does this year have in store for her?
