Today's Scripture:

John 11:53-54, NLT

"So from that time on, the Jewish leaders began to plot Jesus' death.

As a result, Jesus stopped His public ministry among the people and left Jerusalem.

He went to a place near the wilderness, to the village of Ephraim, and stayed there with His disciples."

Observation:

Many people wanted to kill Jesus but He gives us an example on how we should respond to criticism.

There are always going to be people who don't like you. There are always people who will judge you, criticize you, or even spread rumors about you.

There is a tendency that you want to defend yourself. You want to criticize back.

Don't do it! Let God be your defender.

Application:

Every time you are under attack or put down, you have two choices.

You can defend yourself.

Or

You can let God defend you.

Whom do you think can do a better job?

When Jesus was insulted,

"He did not retaliate nor threaten revenge when He suffered. He left His case in the hands of God." (1 Peter 2:23, NLT)
Follow the example of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Prayer:

Lord, You know how much I desired to defend my self. But thank you for reminding me that You can do a better job than me. Thank you for giving me the best example on how I should response against my enemies. Give me the compassion to pray and bless them. Help me to love them just like how you love us. Give me the eye for beauty over my neighbors. Thank you for loving us even though we fail you everyday. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
