Title: I WOULD RUN WITH YOU
Word Count: 313

"I would run with you, Lupin. I would run with you to the edge of the world." Fenrir stared at me with eyes as grey as iron, the only thing that keeps her from wildling. Only the iron in her veins keeps her human. She's so close to being Fae, you can smell it in the air.

I looked at her. "I will not stop running at the end of this world, nor the end of the next. I will keep running until such a time I cannot run anymore." I bared my teeth in something humans would hesitate to call a smile. "And that time is eons coming." A reminder of my near immortality.

The girl squared her shoulders. "Then I will run with you until I am unable to keep up. To see this world and everything beyond it. "

"It is a long way, little girl, and I will not slow for you. Go home to your warm hearth and full belly and clean clothes. You'll have none if you follow me." I turned away, pulling the cowl of my hood up past my tapered ears, flicking my yellow-burning eyes away from the girl that could be so much more.

She followed. "Still I would run with you."

I don't remember saying anything, only turning and letting her see my face. "Then come, Daughter of Men. Let us see how far those legs will take you."

That was the day Fenrir left her humanity behind to join an old Faerie in his quest to wander and see all the worlds. I have not asked her, not in two eons, why she left her family, her hearth and her home, to run at my side. She has not told me. We rarely speak. There is only the horizon, and how fast we run to it.

And who will stop running first.
