Concert Night

Christopher Smith

Today was the big day. Concert night at Berlin.
Who would have thought a 14 year old performing internationally in an international orchestra. I was the violin soloist for tonight's performance. I had never been stressed for a performance, as I had already done 20 international performances, but this was my first being the soloist, so there was a slight chill up my spine.

Anyways, why do you care. Let me tell more about myself. My name is Christopher Smith. I am the son of the famous musician Charles Smith. I am a violinist for the number 1 orchestra in the world. Alright, I should probably stop because if I keep talking about myself it will take forever.

The concert was about to start. So, to relieve my stress I did my performance ritual that I would always do for every performance. I would always do 28 push-ups, 13 sit-ups, and run on the spot for 1 min and 37 seconds. Don't ask me why it is so specific. This is what helps me.

30 minutes later, the concert had started. Everything was going well. The music sounded terrific. 7 minutes in the performance my solo was coming up. My palms were sweating later. I played the solo just the way I learned it. It felt so long, but I got through it. My dad was looking at me from backstage with a serious face.

That just made everything worse. Finally, after 45 minutes the concert was over. The audience applauded for a good 2 minutes. I guess that meant the show was good. "Great job son" my dad said with a slight smile. "Thanks dad" I replied.

This was the last concert of our tour. So, I was relieved that it was all finally over. It's not that I don't like playing in the orchestra because that is not true, it's just that I was so tired so I needed a break.

I was just packing up when my dad called me. "Christopher, you can go home I will be home in a bit" he stated. "Mike will drive you home"
I waved my dad goodbye and walked out the theatre. I got into the car and fell asleep.
