Superpower AU where the cast of DEH have magical crystals that they wear as necklaces

Evan Hansen looked down at the crystal necklace he wore. The little crystal was a soft green, the light reflecting off the surface and turning part of his hand green. He's had that crystal since birth, and for some reason, could never let go of it. Evan jumped as a car horn sounded, startling him out of his thoughts. He quickly hid the necklace in his shirt and picked up his book bag, heading outside. Waiting for him was his fri- family... friend, Jared Kleinman in his car. Jared waved when he saw him and pulled out of the driveway once he was in.

"You didn't um, have to pick me up..." Evan mumbled. He looked over at the other, examining his outfit. Jared's brown hair was brushed back like always. He wore his regular black framed glasses, faded black- almost green- shirt, pale red button up left unbuttoned, jeans, and black sneakers. His black book bag was tossed carelessly in the back seat. Evan glanced at his own outfit. He always wore a blue polo shirt with darker blue stripes, khakis, and normal sneakers.

Jared shrugged. "My parents wanted me to since they found out you didn't have a ride. If they saw you walking by our house again then they wouldn't pay for my car insurance." Evan nodded slightly, something sparkly catching his eye. Hanging around Jared's neck was a light blue crystal, just like his. Evan's eyes widened slightly but he quickly looked away, a slight blush forming on his cheeks. "Oh..." He muttered in reply. Jared glanced over at him.

"What happened to your arm?" He asked. Evan looked down at the plain white cast on his left arm. "Oh, uh, remember how I got a job at the park? Yeah, well, I was in a tree and I... fell." Evan said quickly, trying to keep his stuttering under control. "You fell out of a tree? What are you? An acorn?" Jared snorted. "Funny story actually because I lay on the ground and I kept thinking to myself someone will come. They'll be here any minute. They'll come." Evan said, fiddling with the hem of his shirt nervously. "And did they?" Jared asked. "No, that's uh... that's the funny part." Evan said.

"Well that is just sad." Jared said, pulling into the parking lot. Evan got out and put his book bag on. Jared got out and grabbed his, flinging a strap over his shoulder. "Well, uh, th-thanks for the ride..." Evan said, gripping the straps to his bag. Jared nodded in response and they headed inside, Jared soon leaving to go with his friends, Evan guessed. Evan headed to his locker to put away what he didn't need and grab what he did. He noticed Zoe Murphy walking by, talking to Alana Beck.

Zoe has light brown hair, blue eyes, a white shirt underneath a pink jacket, jeans, and white sneakers. A pink crystal necklace hung around her neck. Alana had long black hair in small braids tied into a ponytail, dark skin, round glasses, dark eyes, a purple dress, and black sneakers. A clear crystal necklace hung around her neck. The bell rang and they headed to class, the halls emptying. Evan hurried to his class only to bump into someone. He looked up to see it was none other than Connor Murphy.

Evan backed up, a blush on his cheeks. Connor has long brown hair, blue eyes with his left eye half brown, pale skin, a black hoodie, grey button up underneath, black skinny jeans, and black sneakers. On one wrist he had several black bracelets, and he wore black nail polish that was slightly chipped. Hanging out of his pocket was a black crystal necklace. Connor growled slightly and looked down at Evan. "Watch where you're going."

Evan squeaked and quickly averted his gaze, finding himself staring at the crystal necklace in his pocket. "S-sorry!" Connor noticed him staring at the necklace and quickly shoved it in his pocket. "What are you looking at? You think I'm a freak?" "N-no I-!" Evan stuttered but was interrupted by Connor reaching to grab him. Evan closed his eyes and threw his arms up in defense. "What the hell?!" Connor exclaimed. Evan looked up to see vines wrapped around Connor's wrists, holding him back.

Wait, vines?! Evan thought, eyes widening at the sight. Vines came out of the ground and wrapped tightly around Connor, holding him still. Evan noticed something green and looked down to see a green light coming from his chest. Evan took out his crystal to see it was glowing. Curious, Evan tried getting the vines to let go, and to his surprise, they did. Connor rubbed his wrists. "You're a fucking freak." He said, shoving Evan out of the way.

Evan whimpered and rubbed his uninjured arm. Connor turned around and picked him up. "I'm sorry..." Connor said softly. "Y-you don't have t-to be s-so mean..." Evan sniffed, curling into him. "I can't help it..." Connor sighed. "C-con-Connor... You're flying!" Evan exclaimed. "Hmm?" Connor hummed, looking down. "Holy shit..." He muttered, landing next to the lockers. "How did that happen?!" Connor exclaimed. "I don't know!" Evan replied, getting out of his arms.

A few jocks skipping class rounded the corner, causing Evan to jump and quickly hide. Connor groaned, wishing he could vanish. His crystal glowed and suddenly vanished, Connor along with it. The jocks passed and Evan came out of hiding only to stare at the place Connor stood. "What are you staring at?" Connor asked. "Y-you're gone... I-I can't s-see you!" Evan stuttered. Connor looked down and noticed he was invisible. Experimentally, he reappeared then disappeared again. "Cool." Connor smirked, reappearing.

Suddenly, the lights turned off, causing Evan to jump. Connor wrapped an arm around him and heading towards the sound of a yelp. There was Jared, surrounded in electricity. His crystal was glowing electric blue. Evan squeaked and backed away from him. "Kleinman, you're sparking." Connor said, a small smirk making it's way onto his lips. "Really? I didn't notice." Jared said, his voice heavily laced with sarcasm. The electricity vanished and his crystal stopped glowing. "So, levitation, Murphy?" Jared asked, sounding interested. "And invisibility." Connor said, pulling Evan close gently.

"What about you, Ev'?" Jared asked, turning his attention to Evan. "U-um... I-I made vines grow..." Evan said nervously, playing with the hem of his shirt again. "Nature powers. Cool." Jared chuckled and adjusted his glasses. "Guys, what's going on?" Alana asked, walking up to them. Jared stared at her, surprised. "Weren't you on the opposite side of the building?" He asked. Alana looked at him in confusion. "Aren't you near my classroom?"

"No... We're in the east wing. Your class... Don't you have Geometry? That's in the west wing, isn't it?" Jared said, now completely surprised, but only let a little show, holding up his façade well. "... Wait really?!" Alana exclaimed, clearly startled and surprised by the news. "Speed, I guess." Connor shrugged. "Alana?" They heard Zoe call. "Over here Zoe!" Alana called. There wasn't a response, but she showed up a couple minutes later. "There you are. I was looking all over for you." "Wait... We heard you... but you weren't near us..." Jared said.

Zoe looked startled at that but shrugged it off. "I know. It happened before. Because of my necklace. It's hyper voice I think." Zoe said. They nodded. "So... What now?" Jared asked. They looked at each other, having no idea what they should do next, other than go to class, which is what they did.
