Jocelyn Flores,

" Ms. Flores, welcome to Broward County High , we hope you enjoy your stay here. " the principal said as she handed me my schedule. I took it and read it, I had a lot of classes. Oh god. My mom stood up and hugged me.

" have a nice day at school sweetie " she said before she walked out. I sighed and turned to walk out the office when all of a sudden the door swung open. There stood a white girl, she looked annoyed...and she was staring at me awkwardly.

" Jocelyn, this is Avalon, your buddy! " Ms. Reef , the principal, giggled. Avalon rolled her eyes. I looked down. This is going to be some year.

" Now Ava, I expect you to keep Jocelyn on the right track, also if you want to stay here at BCHS " Me.Reef side eyed Avalon. Avalon sighed and rolled her eyes. " Fine " she finally said taking my hand. " we're buddies now yay! " she drug me out the office. When we got in the hallway she let go and took out a cigarette.

" Man Ms. Reef can be a pain in the ass sometimes " , she lit it and took a long drag while looking at me looking at her. She smiled and put it out. " lets begin the tour shall we "

" Dont talk to her she's a mega whore and dont talk to him he's a fuck boy " she finished. She pointed out all the people in our grade and what they are known for. I nodded. " wow you're so quiet, I hope you stay that way, the girls here are messy as hell " , I listened to Ava talk until this boy walked , along with a bunch of other people. He was so fine.. " Oh hell no, stay away from him too " Ava said watching me watching him. " why " I said. She laughed. " Damn that's the first word you've said " , I laughed. " but yea, that right there, is trouble , they all are " We watched as he flashed his million dollar smile at all the nerd girls, which they bout melted . " he can't be that bad " , she scoffed. " I wanna show you something, follow me "

We walked up the stairs to this wall which was decorated with candles and red hearts. There was a picture of this beautiful girl in the middle.

" Name was Simone Cartwright " Ava looked at the wall. " She was everything, every girl wanted to be her , every boy wanted her, for her, everything was perfect. " she sighed. "until she met him. she met Carti " she. shook her head.

" all she wanted was love, but with him? love didn't exist." " they started dating and her grades started slipping , she started sleeping in class , started changing personality wise, which caused her to lose her fri-ends " her voice cracked. " I was her friend , until she snapped on me for trying to break them up, I tried to save her.. " , a tear rolled down Ava's cheek and she put her hair behind her ear. " I'll never forget the day she came to school bruised , couldn't have been her parents beating her, they loved her to death, I knew Carti did it." " She came to me about it, and we cried together and I made her leave him, and it worked for the most part of the day. she cried ' Baby ' at lunch and she, Carti and his boys went to go get lunch." Ava's was crying by now , I could tell this was a touchy subject for her..I didnt know whether to hug her or keep my distance, so I just watched.

" After that day, I never saw her at school.. again, I blew up her phone , it went straight to voicemail. I asked her parents and they said she went to stay with her boyfriend and that she was running away with him. Funny because he was at school always. It was winter back then so the school pool was closed, Simone loved swimming. Spring rolled around and the pool got to be unlocked finally " Ava wiped her tears only to cry again.

" I'll never forget the screams of everybody when they saw Simone's naked dead body at the bottom of the pool " " when the police got her out the pool they were saying she killed herself " she shook her head. "Simone couldn't even lift the medicine ball in gym, she was so tiny , aint no way she could lift that cinder block " " at her memorial at school, everybody was there , including Carti, him and his boys were snickering while everyone was crying. heartless bastards" She wiped her tears and I finally decided to hug her. She pulled away fast. " Im cool, im fine , just promise me, you'll stay away from him " , " I promise " , She took out another cigarette. " Alrighty then, let me touch up my makeup and we'll be on our way to class "

Lunch rolled around and I sat with Ava and her crew. It wasn't all white people like I thought it would be, it was some black people as well. I didn't talk as much as I did when it was me and Ava cause I didn't know what to talk about. I didn't know anybody and they didn't seem too friendly. I was eating my sandwich when it got quiet. I looked up and it was again, Carti and his people walking in. It's like the whole school was envious of them, very envious. It was only until Ava said something when I noticed that Carti's crew was now standing at our table.

" What do you want? Don't you have that tramp to fuck? " Ava said looking at the girl with the curly blonde hair. She scoffed and walked off. " Aye Ava I thought you knew better than to disrespect my bitches " Carti said. His voice was so calm..wait no shut up Jocelyn. " Ha! Your bitch is a bimbo " Carti sized her. " Aye she a whole female chill out " One of his friends grabbed his shoulder. Now Carti's friend was finer than him. He had one side of blonde dreads and the other side black. Carti backed down and Ava laughed. " We didn't come here for you bitch, we came for this here " All eyes were then on me. " Carti circled the table looking at me. Smiling at with his pearly white teeth. " Boy get the fuck on , she already knows what you are " Ava said laughing. " Bitch get on, ANYWAYS " Carti got on one knew in front of me , pulling out a box from no where. " Um " I got nervous asf. He opened the box and it was a pair of beautiful diamond earrings. My eyes widened. " Oh please! " Ava yelled. I was still in shock. " Are these real diamonds? " He nodded. I took them and smiled. "Thank you " , He winked " No problem beautiful ". He stood up and looked at everyone at our table. "Im having a party tonight and you should come, Ava can't go " , I looked at Ava, Ava shrugged. " Nah , I can't go...maybe some other time ? " I replied , he chuckled." Ight but remember " he whispered in my ear "It would've been a night to remember "

He and his crew then walked off. Leaving me starstruck.
