Sammy's POV

Mommy tucks me into bed.

She kisses my forehead and tells me "sweet dreams".

My dreams are nothing sweet. She leaves and turns the light off.

I hate the dark. The monsters come out when it's dark.

Please, mommy, turn the light on.

Mommy cracks the door open. It won't matter they also close it so she won't hear my cries for help.

Mommy, please come back

Karlas POV (mommy)

I laid down in my bed after putting my daughter to sleep.

My phone rings. I slowly get up and answered it.

I can hear somebody breathing into the speaker.

"Hello"

The breathing stopped as soon as it heard my voice.

"Hello," my own voice said back to me, like an echo. I was confused. Was the connection bad?

"Hello can you hear me"

"Hello, can you hear me," my voice said to me again. What the hell is going on? I was about to hang up when the breathing started back up. It was getting louder and louder when suddenly I felt someone breathing down my neck. I froze in fear, heart beating faster like my own heart is scared and trying to run away.

"Hang up," It said whispering every so quietly, in my ear

"Don't hang up," It said in my voice. I didn't say that this time. those words have not slip pass my lips.

Handshaking and ears ringing I hung up, dropping my phone because my hands were numb with fear.

I felt fingertips creeping over my back. My eyes getting blurry as tears threaten to fall. I never felt this much fear in my life.

Sammy's POV

I can hear my closet door open. The creaks it's making can only be heard in the dark room.

Mommy please, they're gonna eat.

The floor creaks like someone is walking. It's getting close to my bed.

Mommy, please help me.

"Mommy," I said hoping she can hear me.

Karlas POV

"Mommy" I heard my little girls voice say. That's not her. It can't be her. Shes in her room. But it sounds like her little sweet voice.

"Baby girl is that you"

"mommy"

"yes baby"

" Can I play with Sammy"

My smile slipped off my face so fast

"Mommy can I play with her" her voice was suddenly behind me. I slowly turned around. A shadow of a little body was behind me. I fell to the floor, crawling back against the wall in fear. This isn't real, this is a dream. I bumped into my dresser and things started to fall. I heard what sounds like a pill bottle. I picked it up and read it. It was my antidepressant for my sleep paralysis that I had three years ago. I thought I was cured of it. But this is different. Usually, I cant move but I'm moving freely. I cant tell if this is all apart of my imagination. I quickly opened it and popped a few in my mouth. Please, anything to wake up from this dream.

No nightmare.

"Mommy why did you take those pill" the voice of the shadow said, getting louder as it comes closer to me.

"Oh mommy, this isn't a dream, your wide awake"

I squeezed my eyes closed, shutting them tightly and plugging my ear.

"Go away," I said in a soft whisper.

"But why mommy, I love you" small hands started to touch me.

"I'M NOT YOUR MOTHER, GET OFF OF ME!" I said yelling. I couldn't take it anymore. The pills are not working, is this really real.

"Mommy why did you yell at me," Sammy said, voice quivering and loud sniffles.

I looked up and see her standing in the doorway, rubbing her eyes. I looked around my room. The shadow was gone. I know it was real. I can still feel like someone was touching me.

"I'm sorry baby, why are you out of your bed." I said picking her her and taking her back to her room. My hand shook as I held her. The worst part is I don't I don't know if this is a dream or reality.

"The monster kept pulling my covers off"

"Monsters don't exist honey" I said tucking her back in her bed, kissing her forehead.

"Now go to sleep"

"Mommy can you check under the bed for monsters."

"Sure baby"

I bent down to look under her bed.

"See there is no monst-" I started to say but stopped.

There, under this bed is my little girl crying, pointing up.

She mouthed to me quietly but I heard every word

"There's a monster on my bed"
