I walked through the bunker, sighing softly to myself as I remembered the events that had unfolded that day. Sam and Dean had gone on a hunt and  Dean had gotten hurt, bad. Sam had carried him into the bunker and laid him on the couch, and I stitched up his leg. Dean toughed his way through the stitches, a bottle of whiskey practically glued to his lips. As soon as I'd finished cleaning the wound and covered it to keep out infection he had limped off back to his room, leaving Sam and me in awkward silence.
"So," I started quietly "how'd it happen?"
"Vampire nest" he replied shortly, picking up his laptop and walking out of the room.
"Oh cool..." I said, trailing off almost inaudibly as he left. Things between Sam and me hadn't always been this bad. We used to have a lot of fun together in fact, messing around and doing research, but after Eileen died he had shut down; it's like he didn't wanna have anything to do with me anymore. Even Dean had been acting strange around me lately. He and I used to be almost inseparable, we were best friends, but now, every time I walked into a room he'd look away and pretend he was busy. Cas was the only one who hadn't turned on me, so I prayed to him almost every day, hoping it'd help me feel less lonely.

Slowly, I walked to my room, shutting the door behind me and sitting on my bed. Closing my eyes, I prayed. "Hey Castiel, I don't know if you're listening right now, but today's been especially bad. Dean got hurt and continued to ignore me and Sam..it feels like he doesn't even want me to exist anymore...please Cas I just need you is all, just some comfort, a sign maybe, that you're listening."

I heard a flutter of wings and suddenly Cas was there at the end of my bed, looking down at me with a concerned expression on his face. Jumping off the bed, I ran to Cas and hugged him tightly. He hesitated then hugged me back, holding on tight, and lightly rubbing my back. I sighed softly and pulled back, looking up at him.
"You came, I didn't know if you would"
"Of course I did, I'm sorry I couldn't come sooner, I had....business to take care of."
"That's OK" I smiled softly, nodding and biting my lip "I understand"
"Charlotte," he said looking down at me with concern, "what's wrong, you seem troubled?"
"It's Sam and Dean....they act like...I don't even know....ever since Eileen died..."
"Charlotte, that wasn't your fault"
"I know but...they treat me like it was.." I replied, looking down and biting my lip, trying to hold back any tears that might try to escape. He gently placed a hand on my shoulder and looked into my eyes.
"I'm going to go have a talk with them ok?" he said, a look of resolve coming across his face. I looked back at him, my eyes wide with a mix of fear and guilt.
"No, no, no, Cas, don't do that, it's fine really, I'm fine!" I blurted out, grabbing his arm. He gave me a look, his "Charlotte, that's bullshit" look, and whooshed out of the room. I stood there, paralyzed with anxiety and questioning everything that could go wrong. What would happen when he told the boys how I felt about their treatment? Would they see their wrongdoing and apologize? Or fight with him and continue to blame me? My questions were soon answered when I heard yelling coming from the main room of the bunker. It was Dean.

"No Cas! I'm not going to forgive her,  she got Eileen killed!"

"Dean," I heard Cas' gruff voice reply, "it wasn't her fault and you know that! Maybe if you'd get your head out of your ass, as you humans say, you'd see how badly you're hurting her! Both you and Sam!"

"Look Cas," It was Sam talking now, he sounded exhausted...and sad, "Eileen and I were starting something, I was falling for her, and because of Charlotte's mistake, she's gone, I'll never forgive her for taking that from me."
As I heard him say those words, I sunk to the floor and buried my face between my knees, as sobs wracked my body. I heard a whoosh and suddenly I was enveloped in Cas' arms. I let myself go limp, just relaxing back into his arms, crying softly into his chest. Cas was like an older brother to me, he always protected me and made sure I was alright, and right now, I couldn't be more thankful I had him.

Sniffling softly, I looked up at Cas and bit my lip, softly whispering, "They'll never forgive me...I should just leave..."

"No Charlotte, don't say that, they'll come around I'm sure of it," he replied, wiping stray tears from my face.

"No, they won't Cas...." I sighed and looked down, snuggling myself into him "Help me run away Cas, they don't want me here anyway.."

"I can't do that Char...it's not your destiny" he replied, looking down at me and gently rubbing my back.

"Then what is?" I asked, looking up at him with an eyebrow raised.

"I can't tell you that, but I know it's something you want desperately, so I don't think running away from it would be in your best interest." He said, smiling softly. I sighed and rolled my eyes at him.

"Not fair" I huffed, lightly punching his shoulder. "Can't you tell me just a liiiiiitttttllleeee bit?" and I put on my best cute face and made puppy dog eyes.

"No Charlotte," he looked away, a slightly uncomfortable look on his face "Stop that, it's very disconcerting and hard to resist" I laughed, ruffling his already messy hair.

"That's the point, Cas" He frowned his cute little angel frown.

"Humans are strange" he replied, looking off into the distance a little. I shook my head and smiled softly, looking at him.

"Thank you, Cas, so much"

"Of course Char, you know I'm always here for you."

"I know" I smiled and hugged him tight, taking in the scent of his trench coat and immediately coughing. "Cas, when's the last time you washed this thing?"

"Angels aren't constrained by time"  he replied, tilting his head to the right, looking at me in confusion.

"Cas.." I started, stopping and laughing softly to myself "May I wash your trench coat?"

"Yes go ahead," he said, taking it off and handing it to me.
