She liked his gestures that way. He would never stop using pickup lines on her the whole day. One of them actually made her blush. It was-
"If the stars fell every time I think of you, the sky would be empty by now,"
He dropped her home that day after the wedding reception. Reyanna figured that Hayden liked her. He found her attractive, which was pretty much obvious. Her Abuela would call her Duchess a lot now. Reyanna would brush it off. She didn't like Hayden that way. He was sweet and charming. She admitted he was hot as hell. Those grey eyes, and carelessly styled dirty blonde hair and that deep voice. His jaw line was something Reyanna couldn't help, but notice. It was enough to make a girl swoon.
Not her though. She was here at work, she won't get involved with a guy outside her comfort zone. She still didn't like London fully. It was always bitterly cold outside, snowing even.
If January was bad, February was worse. She had to wear a sweater all the time! Her natural tan was fading, she didn't like her pale skin so much. Barcelona sun helped a lot, though Rylen and Roman had dusky skin so it was all her.
Why did she have to be the unidentical one? Her green eyes and straight brown hair were the only things she liked about her appearance.
Now she was making stupid excuses. She was fine with her fair skin, it was just like her mother. Sometimes people did get confused how she was a Spaniard when she was so fair, but she didn't care. And she had started liking London. The library was huge. It made her smile when she went with Hayden there one day. She even told him her Abuelos love story. It was her favorite, and now she seemed to understand why her grandparents decided to settle here. It was where it all happened.
London was magical despite the snow and Hayden was helping Reyanna see it.
It was after two months when Hayden had to go back home. He was to take his father's place as he decided to retire at 73. Apparently, Hayden was much older than Reyanna. While she was just 22, Hayden was 30, almost turning 31. It was one of a lot of things she learned about him. Hayden had met her the day before he left. He told her he'll be there three weeks before the wedding for the fittings and everything else.
"I will miss you, Reya," He said as they had lunch. It made her heart beat fast, heat rose to her ears and face.
"You have to get used to it. I'll leave for Spain after the wedding and you'll be here," She told him, trying to veil her stupid emotions.
"You'll leave just after the wedding?" He asked, a bit surprised.
"Yeah. I mean if my Mama doesn't assign me another assignment here, then I will have to stay," She joked.
"So there is no reason for you to stay here. Except for a possible assignment?" He asked. There was hurt clear in his voice.
"No, of course not. My Abuelos are here. I have grown close to them. It's the longest time I have spent with them. And then there is you, my only friend here," She smiled at him. He gave her a small smile.
"Only friend? Don't you consider Olivia or Mark your friends? And Beth?" He asked.
"You tell me, have you heard that I went to a shopping spree with Olivia or to lunch with Mark. Or even on a drinking date with Beth?" She asked.
"No," Hayden said without missing a neat. "You went with me," He answered.
"I don't really belong here, Hayden. That's why I don't want to stay. You'll be a Duke in no time, and there won't be a reason big enough to stay. I'll come and meet you, maybe plan your wedding with a Princess...I don't know. But staying in a place where you don't belong isn't something that I can do easily. It's not my comfort zone," She explained.
