It's hard but I'm trying to remember

Searching for what once was mine

I spent all day searching the city and eventually decided to stop by the Statue of Liberty. I mainly stopped to call and check in. When I called tony I caught his answering machine and left a message.

"There's still no luck so I'm going to keep looking. I'll call you tomorrow."

I hung up the phone then landed on the island.

While I was looking at the statue of my father another person joined us.

"Cool statue."

"Ya... he was a good man then."

"He still is."

I said, "Mind if I ask you something?"

"Hit me."

"Say you lost your memory. What would you do to get back the weeks you lost?"

"I'd go find he one person who I though could help me the most."

"Thanks for your time."

"I'm only returning a favor to a beautiful woman who saved my life once."

I turned around to see Bucky clean cut and in his gear.

"I'm sorry I ran off Bucky.'

"Don't worry. It's going to be ok."

He placed his hand on my face.

"I'm here with you till the end," he leaned in," may I?"

I closed the gap with a kiss. He put his other hand around my waist and pulled me close.

"Bucky..."

"What is it?"

"How did I die?"

"You yelled at me and told me you weren't going to fight me. Ultron made me pull the trigger. I'm sorry."

I went into a blank stare then started shaking and collapsed. Bucky took my phone and called Steve then came to my aid.

"Hang on. Hang on!"

Steve arrived rather quickly in the Avengers Quinn jet. When the doors opened Bucky picked me off the ground then carried me into the jet where he handed me off to Dr. banner.

"What the hell happened?"

"I told her what happened then she started doing this."

Bruce checked my pulse as Steve took off.

"All vigils are normal, pulse is a bit fast but that's to be expected... I think she's trying to make sense of what's happening to herself."

"Can you help her?"

He pulled out a vial of morphine and a needle.

"What is that?"

"It going to calm her down."

"Do it!"

He took the needle and injected me. As it spread through my body I started to calm down.

When I woke up I was hooked up to an IV. Bruce was working away at a desk.

"Bruce...?"

He jumped out of his seat when he heard my voice then turned to me.

"Chloe your awake," he walked over to me," how are you feeling?"

"Fine...but," I looked around.

"What is it?"

"How am I here? I died."

"I think SHIELD brought you back."

"I don't understand Bruce."

"What's the last thing you remember?"

"I saw the Quinn jet land."

"And before that?"

"Oh, I remember. I don't know why but I remember," I looked around at the lab I was in," what happened to me?"

"I think your mind was trying to process to much information at once. When Mr. Barnes told you how you died, well you collapsed."

"Where is Bucky? When can I see him?"

"He with the others up stairs. Give me a few minutes to check your vitals then will go."

"Ok," I smiled at him," thank you."

He started running through the lab and checking all the machines then made his way over to me.

"I'm really glad your home Chloe. It's been really lonely since you left."

He helped me out of the bed then handed me a bag. I set the bag on the bed then wrapped my arms around Bruce to give him a hug.

"I am too Bruce."

He wrapped his arms around me and returned the hug.

"Now get dressed. I'll wait outside for you."

He started walking toward the door when I called out his name. After the third time I called it he turned around.

"Thank you."

Bruce smiled at me, nodded his head then left.

I got dressed in a pair of sweats then left to meet up with Bruce before we went back upstairs.

"Bucky!"

James was sitting on the couch then turned around. When he saw me he got up and hurried over and wrapped his arms around me.

"You're ok, thank god."

Bucky lets go and walked over to Dr. Banner. He then placed his good arm out and said," I want to say thank you sir."

Bruce shook Bucky's hand," Your welcome."

Bucky turned and took my hand and led me away from the others.

"Chloe I have to ask you something."

"Ok," I smiled at him.

"I love you Chloe and I've post you once. But before I lose you again I water to ask you if you'd do me the honor of marrying me?" Bucky got down on one knee and held out a ring.

"I... I..."

Tony hollered out," say yes!"

"Yes."

Bucky looked at me, "really?"

"Yes!"

I smiled at him as he put the ring on me.

"I love you Chloe."

We kissed.

"I love you to."
