After a midnight raid of the kitchen, grabbing a box of Skittles and his fourth can of Coke, Dakota Jones plopped down in the office chair at his desk and began another round of "World of Tanks," his favorite computer game. He entertained no thought or worry about what the next day would bring. He should have been fretting about the fact that tomorrow he would have to take his final high school exam, a Calculus test. His time would have been much better spent cramming his brain with calculus formulas, vocabulary and grammar. So much was on the line for Dakota. If he passed the test he was guaranteed his high school diploma but if he did not pass the assessment, he would have to take extra classes and his summer would be a disaster. While his friends would spend time in the outdoors playing in the sun, Dakota would be stuck indoors listening to boring teachers. He would miss out on family vacations, hanging out with friends and most importantly for him, he would not have any time for playing video games. He would also not be able to get a summer job to earn money for the new gaming computer that he wanted. Finally, at 3:00 AM on Monday morning, after finishing his 32rd battle, Dakota shut down his computer and flopped into bed like a dying fish out of water. He fell fast asleep and instantly entered dreamland.
