People always assume when you grow up your life is supposed to be magically picture perfect. Well, for me, everything pretty much went to chaos senior year in high school.
~Flashback~
"Madison Vontrova? It's your turn," called principal Phillips.

I sharply inhale as I approach the stage of the auditorium. It's election week and I'm going for the role of student body president, so of course, I have a totally extravagant speech planned. Yeah, wrong. I'm actually just going to wing it. To be quite honest with you, I don't want to be president at all. I just figured it would look decent on résumé. My goal is to get into Harvard, if not Yale. I know it's a pretty cliche image, attending an ivy league school while renting a penthouse; getting a semi decent looking boyfriend while raising a disobedient Labradoodle.
Wrong-o, that's not what I want at all. I truly want to be an independent artist and open my own art studio here in Brooklyn, but sadly, I don't think that'll ever happen. Ever since I was little my father always said my goal was to be the best world renown lawyer, hence why he wants me to go to law school.
Ever since my mother killed herself, saying no to my father just seemed out of the question. I just wanted him to be happy, and if living a life that I completely don't want to live will make him elated, so be it.
I walked center stage and adjusted the mic on the mic stand. Clearing my throat, I tapped on it to check to see if it was on.
"You may begin, Ms. Vontrova."
I took the mic off the stand as I squeezed it tightly, rocking back and forth slightly on my feet. I figured I'd just talk about making the cafeteria food better, and instruct that they replace water with grape Koolaid for the water fountains. But of course, I had to screw it up by talking about random shit that nobody gives a damn about.
"Hello, I'm Madison Vontrova and I will fight for you!"
The crowd started laughing uncontrollably and I mentally slapped my forehead.
Way to go dumbass.
I sigh as I developed a new mindset.
"I not only give a shit about each and every one of you, but I care enough to want to give you the learning environment that you deserve. You deserve to walk down the halls without fear of getting shoved in a locker. You deserve to go to the bathroom without fear of getting your head plunged in a toilet," I went on.
A couple nerds clapped in response and I winked at them.
"I want to make your lives better, not more shittier. I know you're lives are probably crap at home, with your mom bugging you to watch after your little sister, or your favorite show on Netflix getting canceled. I get it. I'm practically walking in your shoes."
