Chapter six * Fee

The cinema was old and never played new releases until there were a month old but it was my favorite place to hang out. I love the smell and sounds of popping popcorn and the way that the floor was always sticky no matter how much they washed it. It was the chatter of the families and friends as they left after seeing a film that they liked and it was the atmosphere of contentment after you see a really good film. I sat outside the cinema on my favorite bench and waited for Gareth it was eleven thirty, he was meant to meet me at eleven, and I was getting tired of waiting. I fumbled in my jeans pockets trying to get my phone out to call him when it started to ring. It was Gareth,

"Hello, you're late" I said accusingly,

"I'm outside the cinema" He said surprised "Where are you?"

"I'm outside the cinema" I looked around me "and you are not hear"

"Maybe you can't see me where are you standing?" I looked around and then something clicked.

"I don't think it's that Gareth" I said slowly "you're at the wrong cinema"

"Oh" was Gareth's response, he was at the new multiplex cinema.

"I'm getting the bus back in an hour, come and meet me here" I said annoyed "if you want to" I added as an after thought.

"I'll be there in five" and he hung up. How long has he known me? He knows that I love it here! How could he think that I meant the new cinema!
