Like Minded (Part 2)

Start from the beginning

Their Coach was too happy for words, he was practically crying. Her Papa hugged her. Rylen was content in seeing the pride in his eyes. Reyanna hugged her despite the sweat, she decided that Reyanna did have a thing for sweat. Her Mama was crying while she held the tablet, and Roman was online. He too was enthusiastic despite the late hours in the USA.

As they dispersed Rylen looked towards the Valencian Eagles whose Coach didn't look like he was in a good mood.

She scanned through the players again not finding Enrique amongst the players. He wasn't on the bench as well. Where was he? Was he alright? Did he get sick and wasn't playing? Where was he?

As she was turning back Rylen's eyes locked with the guy she was admiring before. Her eyes met the icy glare making Rylen look away in panic. He was obviously pissed due to their first loss.

The game was well over before he got a chance. Her heart was drumming faster at the look the guy gave him. She was too much of a chicken to ask Sánchez or Juan for his name. She was sure she wasn't going to see him, though the anger, and coldness in his eyes shocked her.

The semi finals were won with a lot of effort. Rylen didn't have to save many goals as none of the teams got any chance near the goal post for more than 20 seconds.

It was a defender's game. The ball coming towards Rylen was easy to stop. She kicked and diverted most of them without catching them.

It was no secret Rylen started as a defender. Her father had taught her how to dribble the ball, and she was comparatively faster for her age.

Rylen was 12 when Coach Rodriguez joined their school. He had broken the team, asked everyone to show their skills, and made the team according to him. He wasn't interested in Rylen until he watched her saving a goal from a boy of a bigger frame than her. She had half somersaulted to catch the ball. That was the day since he started training her as a goalkeeper.

They were 15 when Coach got a job with the Spanish Clubs. He recommended few of his students which included Rylen, Juan, Sánchez, and Torres. Rylen had been playing for the clubs since, and proving herself.

Now as they were graduating, Rylen's goal was to play internationals. She wanted to get selected in the under 19s. Juan wanted the same while Sánchez wanted a sports scholarship to get him into a good college. He was happy playing for college and study Engineering.

Same was with Torres, he had his eyes set on Oxford Law. Despite his caveman looks, Torres was good in studies, he was the salutatorian in school while Sánchez was Valedictorian.

Roman was the Valedictorian until he was sent to the USA, unlike any of his siblings.

Rylen was okay in studies. She decided that if she ever went to college she would study Literature because apart from Football, it was the only thing she liked.

They won the semi finals with 1-0, their goal scored in the last 20 seconds of the extra time.

The Eagles had qualified the semis as well.

Rylen saw the game on her TV. Mr. Icy Glare, as she had named him, was scoring goals while Rylen's eyes searched for Enrique. The Eagles won by 5-1 all thanks to Mr. Icy Glare whose name Rylen missed every time it appeared. Despite his cold attitude, Rylen found him more attractive than any guys she had laid eyes on.

Enrique was cute, but this one was super hot. Rylen had no clue where these girly thoughts were coming from. She decided it was best to keep them to herself until the finals.

___

It was the day of the finals.

The team was pumped up and so was Rylen. She didn't let her achievements throughout the game make her over confident.
