"I should go back home," Enrique announced after finishing his coffee.
"Yeah," Rylen didn't want him to go.
"Will you visit tomorrow?" Her Mama asked Enrique for Rylen. Mothers are mind readers, she swore.
"Yeah. I will. With my stories," He grinned looking at Rylen and walked out of her room.
"He is nice," Her Mama commented after Enrique was gone.
"Yeah," Rylen said switching on her laptop. She knew 100 questions were coming her way.
"You met him at the party?" Her Mama asked.
"Yes," Rylen clicked on her game.
She wasn't concentrating on the game rather on a certain brown eyed boy.
"You guys hit off quite well," She sat down beside her.
"Yep," Rylen replied distractedly.
How could Rylen be attracted to him when she didn't recognize him?
"So you like him?" She asked.
"Yeah," Rylen said. Her eyes widened when she realized what she just said.
"So you do like him," Her Mama was smiling coyly.
"He's a good guy. I like him as a friend," Rylen explained. Fuck!
"A friend? In a night? What happened to 'I don't trust boys and their intentions'? " She raised an eyebrow, and Rylen felt her face heat up.
"I didn't know you blushed, Ry! What happened to my PDA hating champ?" Her Mama teased sitting on her bed.
"Is this called blushing?" Rylen asked surprised.
"Yes it does, sweetheart. I can't believe my Rylen has a crush!" Her Mama was excited.
"Ma!" Rylen whined, but a small smile came to her lips.
"It's okay, Ry. This happens, and I think he likes you too," She kept her hand on Rylen's good one.
"You think so?" Rylen asked. "I mean that Giowhatsherface doesn't get her claws off him. I think he might like her. He believed her when she said I might not talk to him. He had a hard time believing me," She informed her Mama.
"Oh my god! Are you being possessive? Rylen Adriana Valdez, what happened to you?" Her Mama said in a sing-song voice.
"Ma! Don't say it like that, and don't tell Pa. He'll tease me to no end," Rylen held her face in her good hand.
"Okay, I won't tell him...for now," She wiggled her eyebrows at her making Rylen groan.
The whole day her Mama poked Rylen about Enrique. When her Mama left for the night Rylen sighed with relief. Her relief was short lived when her Papa caught about the hints her Mama left when her Papa was around. So Rylen had to admit due to her inability to lie to her parents. Then she heard no end of his teasing as well.
Her Papa called her Mama the minute she confessed who put it on speaker when Reya and Juan were there. They all teased her about her crush together. Rylen couldn't stop blushing this whole time. Roman got to know by the end of their call. So did her team and Coach.
The next day her Papa was there when Enrique visited. He gave Rylen an amused smile before leaving them both to attend a call. Rylen was amazed how both her parents had the same lame excuse for leaving them both alone.
It went for quite a time. Enrique used to visit her during her brief stay at the hospital, the other times they chatted on phone, or video call. He would bring her stories when he could, or he would mail it to her. Then when they would meet Rylen would gush about how she loved them. It wasn't to impress him, Rylen really did like his stories a lot.
