When Rylen saw him at the bookstore and the party, he was a ball of nerves. Stuttering and stammering before saying two words. On the field, he was a machine, emotionless, focused and confident. No wonder Giowhatsherfasce had a crush on him. He was worth it.
Rylen's eyes widened when she realized what she had just thought!
"No!" She whispered to herself. "Shit!" She cursed. "I am such an idiot!" Rylen wanted to hit herself.
She had a crush on Enrique Alvarez. He just became her first crush.
It was the first time her heartbeat accelerated due to a person. The first time she found a male this attractive, and the first time her mood was affected because of a person. That too a guy and not anything else.
Rylen had a crush on Enrique, the big ball of nerves who looked adorable when he scratched the back of his neck. He made her nervous when she saw him. That was the reason she was so attracted to him on the field. Her heart knew it was him when her eyes couldn't place the resemblance.
"Ry?" Her Mama's voice took her out of her reverie, and Rylen faced her Mama with a face flushed and a small creepy smile on her face. "Someone is here to meet you," Her Mama smiled.
"Who?" Rylen asked. Her heartbeat was accelerating per second. Was it him?
Her Mama motioned the person to come in. After a few moments, Rylen saw a baggy jeans and t-shirt clad boy on the other side of the open door. It was him!
"H...hey!" He stammered.
"Hey!" Rylen waved from her good hand.
"Ry, I need to make some calls. Rick, please keep these near Ry, and see that she doesn't start walking," Her Mama instructed and left the room.
Rylen didn't miss the small smile on her Mama's lips. What was she up to?
"Ho...how are you feeling?" Enrique asked entering the room with his hands full off Rylen's stuff.
"I hate sitting here all the time," Rylen wanted to slap herself. What the fuck was she saying?
"Does it hurt?" He asked in a soft voice, slowly approaching her.
"A bit. Mostly I'm on medicines so it doesn't matter," She told him.
"I'm sorry," He said, placing her stuff on the table beside her bed.
"For what?" Rylen was confused.
"You fell because of me. If I hadn't tricked you, you wouldn't have injured yourself," He said looking away.
"What the fuck?" Rylen was shocked. "Who said it's your fault?" Rylen asked him.
"No one. I just thought..." He was saying, but Rylen cut him.
"It's a game, Alvarez. Everyone gets hurt. I too did. It's no one's fault," She said firmly.
"I..." He stammered.
Rylen understood what would have happened. Anger boiled inside her as her nose flared.
"Who blamed you?" She asked him.
"No one," Enrique looked alarmed. It confirmed her doubts.
"Alvarez, speak!" She ordered.
"No one said anything," His voice raised a bit.
"Enrique fucking Alvarez, who the fuck blamed you?" Rylen was angry.
"Gio....Giovanna," He blurted. "She said you would hate me for making you go through all this hurt. It was actually me because of who you fell so hard that you broke your shoulder," He said, his voice went down to being before a whisper with every word he spoke.
