Like Minded (Part 1)

"I..." Before her Mama could say the next word, Rylen interrupted.

"I am on the loudspeaker, you guys! Please leave my virgin ears from...all this!" Rylen whined.

"Whatever, I am starving. Come home fast," Her Papa hung up.

"You both have to stop it alright," Rylen sulked.

"You'll get used to it," Her Mama chirped as they parked outside their house. "Reyanna and Roman don't mind, that much," She pointed out.

"Roman is a guy and Reyanna lives in a fairytale world!" Rylen complained.

"You'll find someone some day and then you will be all cool like your siblings. But I'll talk to your Papa. We'll keep our PDA minimum," Her Mama told her entering the house.

"Finally!" Her Papa came into view, still without a t-shirt. He took the food bag from her mom's hand and went inside the kitchen.

"Now that I don't mind," Rylen chuckled as her Mama shook her head.

"Don't eat them all, Pa!" Rylen shouted following her Papa into the kitchen.

A few evenings later Reyanna, Rylen, and their Mama were all in Rylen's room dressing her up. Rylen knew her sister and Mama won't leave this opportunity.

While her Mama straightened the mess she called hair, Reyanna did her makeup. Rylen wasn't supposed to move or utter a word until they told her to do so. And frankly, Rylen felt terrified to even do so.

After two long hours which seemed like an eternity to her, her makeup was done and Rylen was sent to wear her dress. They won't let her see the mirror until she was ready, it was getting too suspicious.

Maybe they made her look like a joker like the girls at her school. Rylen asked them to keep it minimum because she wasn't used to makeup and honestly, the guys would laugh at her.

"You can look now," Reyanna said wiping a fake tear while her Mama looked nostalgic.

Rylen stood up and walked to the full-length mirror in her room, and gasped as she saw the girl in the mirror. Her shoulder length hair looked tamed and didn't look artificially straightened. She had flawless skin and perfect cat eyes sans any fancy eye shadow. Her lips were full and shiny but looked naturally pink. Her cheekbones were sharp and defined. Her collarbone was delicate and prominent. The dress she wore looked like was fit for a classy celebrity and not a tomboy. The girl wore ankle boots, but they never looked this good before today.

"What the fuck! Who the hell is that?" Rylen exclaimed.

"That's you, sister. The prettiest of them all," Reyanna told her coming into the picture.

"I am that? Are you sure? I mean where did the freckles go? And I don't look like caked in makeup," Rylen felt confused. Reyanna and her Mama laughed.

"Because we kept it natural, baby girl. Wouldn't want you to grow up so fast," Her Mama told her.

Rylen didn't say a word but hugged both of them. She was too scared to ruin what they both did.

"I think you should leave now. Manolo said he was there half hour ago," Reyanna informed her.

"Shit! I have to reach there before they announce the opening of the tournament," Rylen panicked.

"Don't worry. They won't start without Daddy," Reyanna assured her.

Her father and Rylen were to go to the party together. Mama had some work so she and her sister stayed back. Reyanna helped their Mama in her work. She assisted their Mama when she could and interned with her during summer. Roman was in the USA, studying business in a school especially for future businessmen and entrepreneurs. He had gone there last year, Reyanna and Rylen missed him terribly. They were triplets, incomplete without each other. Though they were their own people, together they felt complete.
