"I don't know how your triplet thing works, but maybe they will fall in love soon," Her Mama told her.
As they reached a store Reyanna always shopped from, her Mama halted for a moment making Rylen stop as well.
"What?" She asked her.
"You don't love Manolo, do you?" She asked.
Suddenly, Rylen started laughing. She laughed clutching her stomach while her Mama looked confused.
"Me and Juan? Are you kidding me? " Rylen asked as she sobered up.
"I mean you do seem pessimistic about your sister and him. I thought maybe you like him more than a friend. " She answered.
"Ma, Juan and I are never happening. He's like a brother to me. The reason I let him be with Reya is for I know he won't hurt her. And he stinks, metaphorically and literally," She told her Mama dragging her inside the store.
"I did not need to know that," Her Mama rolled her eyes. "Okay, now tell me what you feel comfortable in...except ripped jeans," Her Mama said before Rylen could say that.
"Um...Jeans?" She answered and her Mama gave her a flat look. "Shorts?" Rylen tried but gained an eye roll.
"We'll start with fashionable," Her Mama said as she shuffled through the catalogs.
"What about comfortable?" Rylen questioned swiping across the catalog and cringing at every dress she saw.
"You check the other catalog, choose anything you like," Her Mama didn't answer her question, but Rylen wasn't in the mood to ask again. She obeyed her Mama.
"I think I found something. Come on," Her Mama announced after ten minutes while Rylen was busy yawning seeing girly outfits.
Her Mama led her to the trial station and made her stand in the middle. As the glass closed around her, and the lasers took her measurements, her Mama input the dress ID she saw in the catalog.
The laser stopped at her feet and disappeared as Rylen looked at it with extreme boredom. She hated being under the radar, literally. It made her feel exposed, while Reyanna loved it.
Suddenly a dress appeared on her. It had no sleeves, showing her toned arms. It had a V neck and a belt on the empire line. The dress was long, it ended up just above her ankles. It was not body hugging and not very flowy, just enough to let her walk freely.
"It's okay," Her Mama said.
"Awful is a better word. It's 2036 Ma, not 2020!" Rylen rolled her eyes.
Without a word, her Mama tapped the screen and the dress changed into a jumpsuit. It had a halter neck bodice with a cut in the back and flared pants.
"I like this," Her Mama commented.
"Eh...fine," Rylen pursed her lips.
"Let's try the next one. I have a feeling you'll like it," Her Mama told her tapping the screen outside her glass closet.
Rylen saw as the outfit changed into the culottes which came till her mid calf as the trousers. The top was high-low cape style as the front was short but the back went down to her ankles. And it was all black with a golden belt. Rylen looked out of her comfort level and still in it. It had pockets as well.
"I take you like it?" Her Mama looked cheerful.
"Yep. I don't want to stand here anymore so I'll take it," Rylen replied, and tapped the release button of the closet.
The dress waited for them at the cash counter. Her Mama paid, and they came out.
"You want to take something for lunch?" Her Mama asked.
