Like Minded (Part 1)

"Yeah. Cool," He said falling in step with her.

Rylen liked this guy. It was wrong of her to judge him. He was shy, and not a pervert. She wished he wasn't because she would hate to hit him. He looked okay, even with those awful huge glasses.

"So what do you do except for playing football?" Rylen asked as she tried to spot her teammates.

"I write," He told her and Rylen stopped looking here and there and looked at him.

"Write as in stories?" She asked.

"Yeah. Mostly short stories. I have written a few for my college applications," He informed her. "What do you do?" He asked.

"I read," She told him making him grin.

Rylen didn't understand why her two words made Enrique smile so much. It made her smile as well.

"I see. What do you read?" He asked. Rylen liked this question.

"Classics. Thrillers and Action. Even fantasy sometimes," She told him with a big smile.

"That's cool. I get it why my Papa likes you so much," He smiled back.

"I know. What position do you play?" She asked.

"Striker," He told her. "You are a goalie, I know," He informed.

"How come?" She asked.

"I recognize your name. Our Coach told the team about you. From what I heard you are invincible," He told her.

"The fuck? I am not invincible," She pointed out.

"You do have a record for stopping 25 goals last season out of 30 for your team. The reason your team won the Messi Cup," He pointed out

"I just train a lot with my team and my Papa. I don't think there is anything extraordinary in it," She told him.

"I wish I could get some secrets from you," Enrique joked.

"Maybe after the tournament, pretty boy. Right now, we are kicking your asses," She replied.

"In that case. I really wish to see you after the tournament," Enrique's eyes gleamed, but Rylen couldn't point out what it was.

"Rick!" A high-pitched voice came from behind Rylen. She turned to see a girl in a knee-length tube dress and wedge heels walked towards them.

"Oh shit!" Enrique cursed, but before Rylen could ask him, the girl pounced on Enrique which looked like a hug but didn't feel like one.

Rylen saw him literally pushing her, but she didn't get a sign and printed her glossy red lipstick mark on his cheek. If Reyanna was here she would say 'Glossy red lips were so 2017's!'

"I was looking all over for you, Rick. Where were you?" She asked.

Rylen winced a bit. Her voice hurt her ears.

"Just here. Giovanna, meet Rylen Valdez from the Barcelona Bulls," He motioned the girl to Rylen who seemed to ignore her standing right in front of her.

"Rylen, this is Giovanna Santos, one of the defenders for our team," Enrique introduced her.

"Rick! Are you being friendly to rival teams? That's not good!" She exclaimed in her ear-hurting voice.

She didn't even say hi to Rylen. Rude!

"You know I think it's cool to talk to your rivals, shows sportsman spirit," Rylen interjected before Enrique could say anything.

"Yeah whatever," Giovanna scoffed and looked at Enrique. "Coach is looking for you," She said.

"I'll see you later, Alvarez," Rylen waved and left the scene.
