Standing outside, I sigh a breath of relief. The dark ally I was standing in gave me the shivers. The viperes words echoed in the back of my mind. I have to be on my toes if I don't want to be put in another coma again... Those are not fun. What really worried me was Jones getting defensive. He never got that way with me before. Well only when what I said was a lie and he knew it was. He never really had dealt with viperes before. He and I were partners from the beginning, right out of the academy. We fought crime like friends, even then I could tell that he wanted to be more than friends. A cloud of cigarette smoke came out of my mouth. I know it's nothing the healthiest thing for me to be doing. My parents when I was a kid, they smoked pot. They said if I was going to smoke something, make it worth it. I shrugged it off at the time but now I realize what they meant. Jones didn't have a good reason to be mad if he even was.

Jones watch her leave the cafe trying to not tell her to come sit back down. This was one of those situations he just had to let her go and cool off. She had been through a lot tonight and he knew that he shouldn't push her temper. He didn't know if he should be mad at her to assume things or not. She had never doubted his abilities to deal with something this serious before. Something was bothering her and he could tell. He dealt with a lot with Jasmine in the past. Together as a team, they were the top pair of officers in the entire station. Then Jasmine quit because of being in a coma and having to go through rehabilitation. It had really disappointed him, but he knew she would be back. As kids, for Halloween, they went as cops every year. Back in middle school, she told him that she was going to make it as a police officer. Jasmine was the top runner of the entire school. She went to nationals for every sport she played. She won first at nationals for track. Everyone thought that she would take her talent and go to the Olympics. She denied and went to become a police officer like she had always dreamed of being.

Jasmine walked in the door looking more tired than when she left. She sat down across from him. She had the fresh smell of cigarette smoke. She always smelt like ask and tar but it was a good smell for her.

"You look tired." Jones examined.

" I... am. I'm really...... sorry for biting off your head......... and doubting you. I know that you can handle anything that seems impossible to any other officer....." Jasmine apologized.

"Jasmine, what is it?" He asked.

She looked up. Her eyes were full of confusion and pain. Jone's curiosity quickly turned to worry upon seeing this. Jasmine had depression, she took medication for it and to help with it. The pain in Jasmine's eyes was different. It wasn't new pain but the pain of the past. Like old scars being opened again. She sat silently and looked back down into her cup. Messing with the spoon.

"I......... I'm just so confused......" Jasmine responded at last.

"What is confusing you? You know I'm here to help?" Jones said lightly.

"The vipres. She said I should watch my back and that she thought I died the last time she saw me. I don't remember seeing her before. To tell the truth I don't remember much of my accident. All I can really remember is lots of blood. My blood. Your face and you telling me to stay with you and that help was on the way....I don't know what attacked me and why it had." She confessed.

"The vipres attacked you, Jasmine. I think we, well at least you, should go home and get some sleep. Sleep might help. We can start out fresh tomorrow morning ok?" Jones suggested.

"Yeah....That sounds good..." She sighed, leaving her half of the bill on the table.

" I'm taking you home. I'm not letting you walk home in the dark." Jones told her while paying his half of the bill and leaving a tip as well for their waitress letting them stay long after closing time.

"Alright. If you say so. Thanks for meeting with me. Also, would it be alright if I texted you tonight?" Jasmine asked.

Jones thought for a moment and then nodded "Yeah. I'll be at the station, feel free to text me."

She nodded and stood up, grabbing her black trench coat. Jones thought she was the only woman that could pull off the trench coat look. He stood up, nodding to the waitress standing behind the counter, then put his arm around Jasmine. She smiles up at him and rests her head on his shoulder. He didn't expect her to do that but she did.

"You're blushing Jones," Jasmine said giggling.

"N-no I'm not." Jones stuttered. His face filled with heat. How long had he been blushing? What did Jasmine think? How did it show with through the sunburn on his face? How- Jasmine's voice cuts into his thoughts.

" Let's go, I'm tired." She said through her yawn.
