She was the prettiest girl in her small city, with flowing brunette and dazzling light blue eyes. She dreamed of having a better, more exciting life. A life with no boundaries, where she was free to do whatever she wanted.
But in Arundel, things were pretty limited. Arundel was a small city southwest of London, and it was somewhat close to the ocean. The city consisted of many buildings, but there were also many greens. Trees, bushes, and flowers were scattered around almost everywhere. It was a very beautiful city, but tourists were hardly ever visiting the one of a kind city.
Today had no excuse to be even remotely exciting, except for the pleasure and getting a new netbook. Eliana had no reason to expect something to go differently in her day, though she hoped for it.
Walking towards the laundromat, the people around buzzed around with life and getting their daily routine finished. Men went to get things for their girls and women did chores. She could hear many conversations going on around her, but paid to attention to any of them.
The laundromat was nothing too flashy, but always seemed to be buzzing with people scrambling to get a washer. Hardly anyone was happy with this chore, but it was not too incredibly boring for Eliana. She liked the smell of laundry detergent and the warm touch of fresh clothes coming out of the dryer.
She was waiting for her clothes to finish washing when Ashton's right hand man, LaShawn, strolled in and walked towards Eliana. "Fine day isn't it? I love the smell of fresh trimmed bushes. Do you know who else loves that smell?" He asked.
Eliana looked up from her portscreen. "Oh I don't know, this is really hard, LaShawn. Please do tell me, I really do care. Is it Ms. Luaran?" Eliana said sarcastically and looked back at her portscreen.
"Um, you, uh... good sarcasm, Eliana," He said dumbfoundedly.
"Sarcasm? I'm afraid I don't comprehend this lowly word. I prefer the term "Answering a dumb question with sass"... no offence of course," Eliana said. "I'll give you an A for effort, but you and Ashton will never succeed in getting my heart."
"But he's such a great guy, yes he has his flaws, but so does everyone else. Just give him a chance. He'd really surprise you with his warm and gentle manner," LaShawn pleaded. "And no offence taken."
"I rather give a literal beast a chance rather than Ashton," She said. Her washer dinged signalling that it was clean. "Goodbye LaShawn."
LaShawn snorted and walked off. Eliana loved seeing to goofy attempts whenever Ashton or LaShawn tried to get her heart. She moved her wet clothes into the dryer and continued reading her netbook.

The stroll home was nice and quiet, with a perfect breeze coming and going. A handful of pedestrians moved along the city streets, and a few hovered around on the streets waiting for people to take them their destinations. Eliana wasn't old enough to have a hover, but she didn't care.
Eliana didn't care what people thought about her. She didn't let their words affect her, and she didn't like affecting others with her words. And, despite everyone thinking she was the prettiest girl in the town, she didn't take advantage of the reputation. Many of the men either had their own women or they knew not to ask Eliana for her hand. She had no interest in any of the men, and she was not a lesbian, despite people telling her so.
She had her own standards. Her own life. She didn't like who everyone liked, and doesn't want what other people want.
