Jason

"Someone once said 'Don't wait for someone to bring you flowers, plant your own garden and decorate your soul.' I believe that as sad and as suicidal as you are, you can always heal yourself. You can look at yourself in the mirror and pick apart who you are, but that's because you're training your brain to believe that. Everyone is special in their own way and you will get through the worst of what life throws at you...."

"Sawyer! Food!" I shout to our puppy. He comes trotting in. I pat his head and smile when the kids run into the room with him.

"L-L-Love S-Sawyer," Carson giggles

"L-L-Love S-Sawyer," Carson giggles.

The German Shepard-Husky mix chomps down his food. A splash noise from the open window makes me furrow my eyebrows.

"Guys, who else was out there?"

"Mom was," Jasper tells me.

I look out the window to see small waves rippling in the water, but no Nezther. I rush out to the backyard. "Nezther!" I yell as I jump in. I pull her up to the surface. She coughs as she wraps her arms around my neck. "It's okay," I hold the back of her head as I hug her tightly. "It's okay, baby," I close my eyes.

She cries into my neck, hugging me tightly. I lean against the wall of the pool. I kiss her head several times.

"I love you, I love you, I love you," I begin to tear up. "I love you so much."

The kids stand at the edge of the pool, staring at us. "I'll get you towels, c'mon guys," Jasper pushes the other two children into the house.

A few minutes later, Nezther and I were wrapped in towels and sitting in the lawn chairs to dry. She's between my legs with her head in the crook of my neck. I run my fingers through her hair. The kids kick a ball between the three of them a little away from us.

Nezther shivers, snuggling closer to me. "You're okay, baby, everything's okay," I kiss her forehead.

She nods, "I know. I just– it wasn't what you think it was," she whispers. "I wanted to feel alive again."

"Did it work?" She shakes her head. "I love you, alright? Please, please, please don't do anything like that again," I tighten my grip on her small frame. "Do you need anything?"

She shakes her head again. "I love you too, Jason, so much."

"M-Mom?" Nezther and I both turn to see Jenny standing at the end of the chair. "Did– did you do that because of me? B-Because it wasn't me?"

My wife is quick to sit up. "No, no," she motions Jenny to come into her arms. "If I could have it my way, baby, nobody would have passed. I love you so much, okay? I'm sorry I've been so distant from everyone, I'm trying to figure everything out for myself." Jenny sighs, hugging her mother tightly. "I'm going to change into my bathing suit and I'll come play with you guys, alright?"

"Yes!" Jasper exclaims. He hugs Nezther too. "Finally!"

"M-Ma!" Carson jumps in.
