The plane moved steadily through the clouds.
In her mind, she said the pilot was doing a great job.
She sat close to the window and had a view of the landscape of Calabar.

Calabar is rich in greens, wildlife, high buildings, culture and lots more. It is the capital of Cross River State. She was proud to call it her heritage.

She began to wonder why she didn't study Tourism - although that was what she wanted.
She was under pressure by her mother because she didn't want her daughter doing a pink collar job.

"But I'll be happy" she had said, "I've always loved tourism, snapping landscapes, going on excursions, visiting zoos---".

" No Sam!", her mother barked at her, "I want you to be a lawyer. Choose your area of specialization and be at the top...", her mother had a voice of authority and no one dared oppose her.
She flung a magazine at her and finished her statement," ...as always. No subordinate is allowed...dear...",she had a smirk of satisfaction on her face, one that annoyed Sam to the core.

Sam had to chose where her loyalty resided --either in her superstitious belief in one of her favorite Disney's princess, Cinderella, whose mother ruled out that she should be courageous and kind or go for her own happiness -Tourism.

"Fine", she had finally surrendered," I'll study Criminal Law".Tears danced around her eyelids, threatening to spill, she backed her mother to hide her frustration and blinked several times to force the tears in.

Her mother sensed her unhappiness and put a hand on her shoulder," don't worry, you'll be fine",she reassured her with a small smile.

Oh! Sam snapped in her little mind, Mom still has an atom of smile --this is a devilish smile, what the crap!!. I'll just try my very best to keep everyone happy at least and my godmother Cinderella.

Sam snorted in annoyance at her reminiscences as she found it hard to let go of the grudges she held against her mother. To her,her mother was a business oriented woman.

She rarely had time for fun,she wasn't motherly in anyway and neglected her duties to her sister who was Sam's aunt. She had been bonding stronger with her aunt than her mother over the years.

As for her one and only sister Lucinda, she missed her a lot especially all their girlish gists, blah blah blah... But here was she, a full grown independent young woman in her early twenties looking forward to her sister's wedding.

Sam was finally awoken from her old world when she heard from the speakers:
                   Attention please!
Put on your seatbelts. The airplane
will be landing soon at Mageret Ekpo
                  International Airport in fifteen minutes
                  and kindly extinguish all cigarettes
                  and lighters. Thank you.

Sam was happy to hear that. She had been feeling nostalgic and couldn't wait to touch the soil of the city of Calabar after a long time. The plane landed finally with the engines roaring as if it's come back from a battle victoriously. Passengers soon started leaving the plane.

Sam walked her way down the stairs and put on her dark sunglasses.
My name is Samantha Dramatic Starveley!
What?! I'm over excited after sitting in a plane for more than three hours. Forget it,right now I'm dramatic.

With her travelling box in her left hand and handbag on the right, she trekked some distance in her most graceful way, smiling at everyone saw,she muttered, "home sweet home".
