The Stranger of My Dreams

Chapter 1- The Meet

"Are you new here?" Someone asked Riya from the bed next to her.

She ignored the question and closed her eyes in a hope of having some rest after having such adventurous morning.

"Hello! Are you ignoring me?" she heard the same voice again.

"Yes, you moron." She muttered under her breath and choose not to answer the question.

"Well it seems that you are ignoring me. That's okay because I know you will come around," said the voice.

"I was the same initially. Over a period of time I was bored and other than talking to people there was no option. So now, I talk to every person that I me." He continued.

"Why can't he leave me alone?" she thought.

She was not in the mood to talk to anyone. The day had been horrible till now. Being tested as COVID-19 positive, she had no other option than admitting herself in the hospital and leaving her old Jiji (She called her maternal grandmother 'Jiji' with affection) all alone at home. She couldn't forget the look of sadness on Jiji's face had when she was being taken to the ambulance. She was just tired and this man with whom she was supposed to share this room for the next 14 days was constantly irritating her asking silly questions. she is not here to make friends with anyone. She wanted to recover and leave this hospital as soon as she can. 

With all these thoughts, clutching her pillow she went off to sleep .

"The food here is not edible at all." She heard the same voice again in her sleep.

"Shut up!" she shouted after being woken up from a deep sleep.

"Finally you spoke!" he said.

"Yeah. Because you couldn't stop talking." She said angrily.

"But I am telling you the truth. You won't like the food here." He said.

"I will decide that. You just keep quiet!" She said.

"Welcome to the Corona world. I am Batman by the way. I am not telling you my real name because I am not supposed to reveal my identity here except for the doctors." He said.

"Did I ask you anything?" she questioned him.

"Being a neighbor, it is my duty to know you." He said with a sarcastic tone.

"Why did I end up here?" she asked God. "How am I going to survive this 14 days with this moron?" she said to herself.

"You are going to enjoy it." Batman replied.

"Yeah definitely." She said angrily.
