"Psst!  Lower the vine!"

I glared down at the Prince before huffing and turning away from the open oak, crossing my arms as I did.  After falling off the balcony at Lati's, hearing a dog speak to me, getting caught on balloons, and almost eaten by Gators, I'd rather not help him.  This was all his fault, after all.  He just had to mess with some dark Voodoo and the Shadow Man.  And on top of that, he lied to me!

So much for being 'fabulously wealthy'.

"Go find your own tree."

"Please, Princess!"

I groaned.  Then I reluctantly lowered the vine to my oak and let him climb up.  "Well, waitress.  Looks like we're going to be here for a while.  So we may as well get. . .comfortable."

I kicked him.  "Keep your slimy self away from me!"

He groaned in pain.  "I told you!  It is not slime!  It is mucus!"

I rolled my eyes.  Like I care?

Waking up the following morning, I had built a raft for us once the Gators had left, and tossed an acorn in the hollowed oak to wake Naveen up.  "Rise an' shine, Sleeping Beauty!  Gators are gone," I said, successfully knocking him on the head with the said nut, before grabbing a long wooden stick, planning on using it to push us around the river.

Naveen hopped down from the oak, before settling himself against the cattail couch and grabbing a small twig covered in a tiny spider web.  I shivered.  Gross.  "I could use a little help," I complained, after having a rough time of pushing the raft by myself after a while.

Naveen stopped strumming his make-shift spider web ukulele for a moment.  "Oh.  I will play a little louder."  Then he went back to strumming, but louder this time.  I scoffed and rolled my eyes.  Men.  Always the same.

I frowned.  I wish I could remember how this fairy tale goes.  All I know is it involves Tiana turning into a frog after kissing the Prince, meeting a Gator friend named Louis in the Byou, a firefly named Ray. . .and that's about all I remember.  Oh, darn it!  I wish I knew how the story ends!  It's not like me to suddenly forget my favorite Disney movie.  There had to be a cause behind it.

I sighed and continued rowing, Naveen's spider web ukulele playing dimly in the background as the water started sloshing savagely, tossing us both sideways as we stumbled over each other, and looked up only to see a massive green form heading straight for us.  Even though I knew who it was, I still felt the fear jump inside me, and somehow, I was in Naveen's arms, wrapped tightly around me as if he could somehow protect me from whatever harm there was.  My heart began pounding.  What was this feeling?

"I know that tune!  Dippin' mouth blues!"

A horn began playing suddenly, and both Naveen and I opened our eyes to see Louis the Gator playing the Trumpet to the exact same tune that Naveen was playing earlier.  He grinned.  Then he dropped me.

So much for having a moment.

I exhaled and watched the two boys interact with each other, before looking up at the morning sun.  I sighed.  When will I be able to go home and forget this nightmare ever happened?
