Lonely, Not Alone

They are too busy

Glued to the television

Sleeping away the pain

No one will play

Canine keeps me company

Licks away my salty tears

Rough tongue on sensitive skin

'You're sweet', I say

Writing in an empty room

Twilight blurring shaky vision

Stay in between the lines

Can't see what I'm saying

I am grieving the loss

of a mother

of an undecided future

of the past

of myself

 I am in mourning

Wet hair dampens pillows

Eyes stray to the outside world

Swallow the lump in my throat

Limbs give out; my mind moves on
